Posted July 30, 200915 yr From my vantage at the game tonight, I could not tell what Bobby Cox and Brian McCann were arguing about. Can anyone that watched the game on television tell me what that was all about?
July 30, 200915 yr Seriously, what was that all about? And from where I was sitting, I didn't even see what happened with McCann. Everyone started standing up and yelling. Didn't get to see what happened. Then heard the announcement about the defensive change.
July 30, 200915 yr Cox was arguing about the strike zone. I don't know what McCann was arguing about but I saw him start a shouting match with Hohn and then he was ejected.
July 30, 200915 yr McCann was bitching because the 1-0 pitch in his AB was called a strike when it was clearly a ball. He kept bitching from the dugout and got tossed. Once he gets tossed Cox comes out and gets tossed.

July 30, 200915 yr I believe that the inning after Cox got tossed... McCann went back out and kept talking to Hohn about the missed call. Apparently McCann wanted Hohn to just admit that he blew the call (which he did) and Hohn tossed him basically cause he wouldnt drop the subject. Oh well...
July 30, 200915 yr Cox got tossed before McCann. McCann got tossed when he came out to warm up the pitcher and said something to the ump.

But we don't hear what's going on. But there was some ruckus between innings. That's when I thought McCann was tossed. I couldn't see anything. But I know it had to do with Hohn. And the guys in front of us were saying something about McCann.

I guess MMP was right. On TV all they showed was Cox getting tossed and a new catcher starting out the next inning.
July 30, 200915 yr Also, now that I remember, Rich and Tommy were saying McCann got tossed from the beginning because Hohn had already taken his lineup cards out when Cox came out to argue to ask him who he was going to replace McCann with. It's possible McCann just didn't know he got tossed.

Nah, McCann stayed in when Cox got tossed. After the Braves were done batting, McCann went back out to the catcher's spot and started jawing with Hohn. After a little bit, McCann got tossed out. So, while they both did get tossed, Cox did get thrown out first.

Because McCann came out the next inning for warmups in full gear and then started talking to Hohn and got tossed. Trust me I was there and everyone stood up and cheered when the ump ejected his ass.

It's possible McCann just didn't know he got tossed. That does make some sense. Because Hohn did have his lineup card out just before tossing Cox.

It happened in between innings if you want to be technical.

I think Hohn threatened to throw out McCann when he pulled out the lineup card, but Cox wanted himself thrown out instead and that's what happened. Look at the gestures Cox made.

Hutton and Waltz were saying how Cox told the ump to throw him out instead of McCann and they stated that half of his tosses could be attributed to him defending his players. Not a lot of good that did McCann since he got himself thrown out in the next half inning.
July 30, 200915 yr Ummm...they showed it on TV. McCann came back out, kept on arguing with Hohn, and got tossed. Bobby Cox did get tossed before McCann. McCann did comeback out to catch. And it was over the 1-0 pitch, which was a ball, for what it's worth.
July 30, 200915 yr It seems that umpire likes tossing Cox I guess his moustache makes sense now.... I wonder if our American friends get it ... That's the problem with Cox. Rub him up too much and he goes off. Plus if you give him a bit of mouth and he'll leave you an unpleasant taste.
July 30, 200915 yr I really hope by the time the new stadium built there's enough available technology options to conveniently have a wireless tv feed everywhere in the stadium.
July 30, 200915 yr yeah rich and tommy were saying that ross was getting warmed up and getting his gear on right before mcann went out to warm up. they said mcann probably knew he was getting tossed before he went out.
July 30, 200915 yr I saw the interview of Brian McCann after the game. Basicly he was upset with a call in his previous at bat, when he came back out to catch he asked the ump to just admit that he missed the call. The ump ejected him on the spot. It was stupid of McCann to say that but the ump had a hair trigger last night.
