Miami Heat 09-10 Season Thread

Featured Replies

This is the first time in a long time I've watched a full NBA game. I think players like Dwayne Wade are overrated.

Alston will sign with Miami tomorrow, there's no dought about that, you can call and ask him yourself.

In another note, why are we lossing all the dramatic games this year? Just when we were winning all of them last season.

Well then I simply don't understand the reason for keeping Arroyo then.

And Wade isn't overrated. He is one of the top 5 best NBA players right now, possibly one of the top 3.

The majority seem to think that...I guess I just like to watch a different NBA.

Give me a guy like Rajon Rondo over Dwayne Wade. While Rondo can give you the occasional triple doubles, makes brilliant passes making others better, and has the ability to score, Dwayne Wade, for the most part, is a product of the referees, imo.

I saw a play tonight where Wade got 2 free throws because he got...I can't even say fouled because truthfully he was barely touched. Happens a lot with the star players in the league. Wade, LeBron, etc.

That was true with Jordan, Magic, Kobe....DWade if he could get consistency in his outside shot (which is much improved) is better than Kobe. He outplayed Kobe on Christmas day. Even Kobe said it was a lucky shot that he hit in the end

Right, because it's the refs that give him his speed, jumping ability, ability to steal the ball, and block shots even though he's just 6'4. Mark Cuban, is that you?

He gets a lot of ticky tack calls.

And...he hasn't really had a good year...if you take away all those free throws, which I'd say at least half are on ticky tack calls because he's one of the league's stars.

Are you serious? Leading the league in scoring last year? Carrying the Heat in the finals against the Mavs and winning the MVP? Hasn't had a good year? Did you see the play at the end of regulation last night? If that and the rest of the plays he's made for this team doesn't give you an idea of what kind of player he is then I don't know what kind of basketball you are watching.

He gets a lot of ticky tack calls.

So has every other superstar in the history of the game.

Hasn't gone to the free throw line nearly as much as in past seasons, yet still averaging 26.9 ppg.

Yeah, last night was Wade's first 10 free throw game since I believe the Hornets game nearly a month ago.

Makes sense, considering he's having a bad year, by his standards.

Don't you think 44 points is less impressive when it takes 34 shots + 16 free throws to do it? Does that really "help the team?"

You're completely ignoring the fact he had 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot yesterday. And he's been 10X better lately than he was to begin the season. He's looking more like his former self in recent games.

No play exemplified how wade could help this team more than that play to end regulation. He played air tight defense, got the clutch steal and made what should've been the game winning shot.

Should mention Wade was more tenative overall due to the fact he played the majority of the end of the game with 5 fouls, he didn't attack the basket like we are accustomed to seeing him attack. There's something to say when people call 44 poitns, 5 rebounds and 7 assists an "off game".

If Ray Allen touches Dwayne Wade like that, is it a "foul?" I bet it would've been...

I smell a touch of bitterness.

It's true, though. Can't breathe on certain star players. It's part of the reason why NBA referees are constantly being questioned.

Erick, you're being a little hypocritical. You say that Wade is overrated, but you also say that he gets all of the calls because he is a "superstar." It can't be both.

Yeah, that kind of thing never happens in the NFL.

The word overrated doesn't mean a player is bad.

He is, to many, a superstar player. I don't think he is. But that's the way people see him.

I just think the very good majority of his stats come from the free throw line. More than any player in the league. I've watched a lot of Heat games over the years, and I don't think it's a secret. My brother jokes about it with me too. He's a very good player, but you can't defend the guy because you can't touch him. I also don't understand why defenders fall for his trick all the time. It's pretty clear by now that every time he goes for a jump shot he's going to try to draw the foul first and foremost...he's not a good jump shooter. He did this (drawing the foul, pretending to shoot) about 3 or 4 times last night.

I smell a touch of bitterness.

hell no.

Did you say Rondo is better than Wade? Come on man. Rondo's one of the better point guards in the league, but thats just ridiculous. Wade is one of the best this league has ever seen.

You guys are talking as if I said Wade was a bad player or something.

Rondo has nothing on Dwade. Nothing. There is a reason why the referees think he is a superstar and give him all these "ticky tack" calls. From the beginning, he establsihed himself. He didn't do it with the help of the referees. He did it with his skills.

You're basically saying Kobe, Lebron, Anthony, etc... are overrated, too. Because they sure as hell don't get too the free throw line alone. Also, Wade does have a good jump shot.

You said you would take rondo over flash. Its not even worth the argument, you clearly don't know anything about professional basketball. Sorry man.

How good would Rondo be without the big 3?

Another horrible loss last night for the Heat.
