Donald Trump and Mike Leach are throwing Mike Leach's name in the mix. I think he would be a great choice because he would be here to stay. As great as Gruden would be, I cant see him sticking around more than 4 years before heading to the NFL. Leach would be here for a while.

Yeah so... my team is still better than yours.

And my team is better than your team and all the other teams in the state for that matter :D

Nope. Refuse to accept this. UCF. Better than you :p

That's fine, you don't have to accept it. Doesn't make it untrue :mischief

If you insist! (I mean granted if either FSU or UF played UCF they'd probably win) we are still better than you!! Especially when we win our conference and you dont :p

And basketball, that too! 5-2? 6-0!

I'm just acting like a child. I dont know anything about college football. All I've been instructed on is that my school is better than... yours [everybody].

Well, FIU won the conference in both football AND baseball. I think that makes us the new UF, right?

If college baseball was important :p

that's okay, ideally we have the best record in the nation right now with a %100 winning percentage anyways.

AND we just beat UF! We want our national ranking in basketball too! MARCUS JORDAN says so!

How's this for a solution to the BCS

Add Boise State and BYU to the Big 12. Add ND and UCF to Big East.

Then the PAC 10, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC and Big East would all have championship games.

Take the 6 winners and then the next two teams with the highest BCS rankings.

Have those 8 teams play in the traditional bowl games: Fiesta, Orange, Sugar and Rose.

The matchups could be determined by either:

A) Have bowl match ups predetermined. For example Pac 10 vs Big 10 in the Rose, SEC vs at Large in the Sugar, ACC vs Big East in the Orange, etc...

B) Rotation. ACC plays SEC in Sugar one year, then SEC plays Pac 10 in Fiesta the next, etc...

C) Random drawing. In the champions league they randomly match up teams. I think this would be the most interesting option that creates the most excitement and controversy. For example, Wisconsin might draw Auburn in the Rose Bowl or Virigina Tech.

The four bowl games are played out. Once all the games are played, then the two top teams would play in the championship game. This format would give most of the 8 teams a chance to play for the title and make fans want to watch ALL of the BCS games because the result would impact the championship game. This method does not change the regular season or bowl system.

After the defeat of UF last night and the conference title up for grabs on saturday, I'd be shocked to not see UCF get into the Big East.

They do deserve to go to a better conference, but I don't see it happening for a while. Plus I heard that the Big East may be looking at Villanova to take a spot in the conference

Here's a good article though on why adding UCF makes more sense:

Well they wont be there next year, nobody will. The addition reflects the 2012-13 school year. But the decision needs to be made now.

I would like something along these lines.

Start off with a Sagarin type formula based ranking system that ranks every team. At the end of the season you add or subtract a certain number of points for each game a team played. The points added or subtracted would depend on whethetr they won or lost the game and on the formula based ranking of the opponent. So for example if you have 100 teams and you beat the team ranked No. 1 by the formula you get 100 points but if you beat the team ranked No. 100 you get 1 point. If you lose to the team ranked 100 you subtract 100 points and if you lose to the team ranked No. 1 you subtract 1 point. The two teams with the most points make it to the BCS Championship. Teams would get a lot of credit for beating good teams and little credit for beating crap ones. Because some teams play additional games you may have to go by points per game rather than by total points.

I would say forget about conference championship games altogether since they are meaningless and then extend the regular season by one game.

Keep the BCS standings and take the top 8-16 teams at the end of the season and have a playoff.

You're a New Yorker. What do you know about college football.:p Syracuse hasn't been any good since McNabb was there.

One significant drawback that comes to mind would be that a team like UM would have no incentive to give a team like FIU a game, for fear they'd drag the down. You might even see traditional rivalries go by the wayside if the disparity has become too large, i.e. UNC vs. Duke.

Well, FIU won the conference in both football AND baseball. I think that makes us the new UF, right?

Best. Sig. Ever. :notworthy

I think that would be a good thing. I would prefer if perennial top teams like Miami played other perennial top teams in their non-conference schedules as opposed to playing the little sisters of the poor. On the rivalries, I think many of them play in the same conference already.

I wasn't as explicit as I should have been. To me, the drawback in is that the smaller schools never get the chance to earn the money from a big-time game, and they wouldn't get any chances for exposure and to attempt to improve their program.

Can anyone come up with a better method than this that does not alter the regular season?

Yes. Just do it the way the other divisions do it. Period! But of course that'll never happen.

lol... there is an investigation under way about the flyover of some military jets prior to the iowa-OSU game. apparently, it was too low.
