True CRaysball
Can someone just put him out to f***ing pasture already?! I'm sick of him taking stabs at the Rays attendance and ignoring what's happening on the field. Is that all the Rays are to him? Low attendance? I know the Rays have an attendance problem, but it's f***ing pathetic to focus on the bad attendance and ignore what's happening on the field. JUST RETIRE ALREADY YOU OLD BAG! :mad:banghead

fanofthefish
Gammons is a Sox fan, so he probably won't cut the Rays any slack. Also it seems like no matter who does a story on a Florida team the attendance is mentioned, especially when teams are doing well.
MrMarlinPride
Peter Gammons, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP! Dude isn't really biased from all I've seen from him and he's a great analyst in baseball.
mystikol87
(jerk post disclaimer) So, let me get this straight: You come to a MARLINS message board to complain about PETER GAMMONS picking on YOUR team's (not the Marlins') ATTENDANCE???? fanofthefish
I just saw the interview in question, (was going on previous interviews with earlier opionion) Gammons pretty much laid it out like it is, the Rays will not have the money to re-sign all of their free agents this off-season. Its pretty much a foregone conclusion that Crawford will be gone after this season, but the Rays have Desmond Jennings waiting to take his place, I really don't see much of a market for Pena (he's failed so many other places, TB might be his best fit). What will hurt the Rays most is losing the depth of their bullpen if Soriano, Benoit and Balfour leave. On a positive note he had lots of good things to say about the MARLINS! Admin
What's wrong with talking about the Rays bad attendance? They are neck and neck with the Yankees and can't draw. That should be discussed. At least Marlins fans had the open-air stadium to use as an excuse.

That's probably the worst place in pro baseball to watch a game. Though at least it's not super hot with water dumping on you.

If you can't handle it, don't post on a Marlins board, especially concerning a topic that is so sensitive to the Marlins. And Peter Gammons is not quite Joe Morgan or anything; he's one of the greats. Get over it and yourself.
Puma
Peter Gammons is overrated. And I'd watch a game at the Trop over Sun Life any day. Yeah, I said it. *sips haterade*

Are we really that spoiled by the new park era that "niceness" of the facility (or lack of) is reason for fans not to attend games of a postseason lock team that has occasionally had the best record in MLB? It's rain proof and climate controlled. I can understand that it might not compare to the newer parks of the last decade but it's lack of flatscreen TVs and build-a-bear stations shouldn't be a real deterrence from seeing a high class team. I'm just saying that that could be their excuse. The lack of a roof here is a sh*tty excuse, as well. It doesn't rain everyday here, and the Marlins won't draw in terms of attendance if the team continues being an average/slightly above average team, regardless of the stadium. The state of Florida, in general, sucks for sports. (unless if you're in the playoffs, or bring in amazing star athletes like the Heat have done). See, I went to a game 2 week ago where it rained on and off (before, of course, the rain delay..) I got sick and felt like sh*t for a week. You can sure as hell bet that I won't be going back this year. It's a total inconvenience that makes people hesitant. Along with that is how ugly that piece of sh*t stadium is and how far it is. I disagree, the Bucs sold out every game for 13 years, even pre-season games. Blackouts started this year cause of the economy coupled with Ray Jays high prices. Actually, the Trop has that stuff. It's been filled with non-baseball distractions over the last few years. You can't walk 10 feet without seeing some kind of gimmick. That has nothing to do with how terrible it is.
