NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :banghead

The Mets might actually improve now.

This is, what, the 5th year of speculation that Minaya was getting fired? It's amazing he held out so long.

Well, actually, it says in the article that Minaya may not actually be "fired" but demoted to another front office role within the organization. I have a hard time believing he would accept such a role, though.

What else is he going to do, go to ESPN and have affair with an intern?

Heh :p

Wow, I never realized how much Omar Minaya screwed the Expos/Nationals organization. He made that infamous trade with the Indians that sent Cliff Lee, Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips, and Lee Stevens to Cleveland for half a year of Bartolo Colon. He also traded away Jason Bay (who he would ironically acquire years later with the Mets), Carl Pavano, and Chris Young.

I've been saying for years that Minaya is probably the worst GM in major league baseball. At best he's one of the 3 worst.

Dude needed to be fired years ago.

As for Manuel, he might not have been the greatest coach in the world, but he isn't the reason the Mets aren't good. Just another scapegoat.

lol yeah. this is pretty much what came to mind. I was hoping they'd have kept minaya/manuel for a little while longer so they can keep chasing their own tail for a few more years.

I'm absolutely positive that I can do a better job than Omar Minaya. Seriously, it's really laughable that the Mets only made the playoffs once in the six years he was there. I don't understand how organizations with that type of payroll constantly fail.

Minaya shouldn't have lasted six years, but I guess we should be thankful he did.

Oh no

What a terrible franchise they have become.

I know... ain't it grand?

It's great that the Mets have become a horrible franchise, but unfortunately they have the resources to bounce back quickly if they get someone who knows what they're doing.

It's weird to see a franchise that had great players like Reyes, Beltran, Wright, Piazza, Delgado, Johan Santana and more in the past 6 seasons and they didn't get further then the NLCS.

Minaya was terrible but Manuel got the short end of the stick here.

Maybe Valentine returns to the mets?

Lots of managerial turnover in the East this offseason with the Mets, Braves and possibly us

He can thank the Marlins for two of those years out of the playoffs. And how sweet is was.

Technically, yes. But with the payroll ownership was willing to pony up they never should have been in that position.

Ummm, David........"Lately" it hasn't been good? Please define "lately".

It's New York :p I assume lately means the last 3 years.

I was also thinking less. As in this year only and ignoring the previous years.

I will say at least David showed some loyalty to his bosses, I mean ex-bosses. And he did get a little well phrased dig in on the Mets fan base. Something he can most likely get away with.

And I won't write it off by saying it's New York. The what-have-you-done-for-me-lately attitude is pretty much world wide in every sport.

Minaya is absolutely awful at his job.

Looks like they're up to their old tricks though, they're talking with the 35-year-old RA Dickey about a multi-year deal.
