Coming off a terrible year and, apparently, is a very poor defender.. but is only 27 and a year removed from a .272/25 HR/95 RBI season and plays 2B/3B. I'm going to guess this isn't a popular idea.. but thoughts?

the real big problem is that his on base is terrible but he has hit for power and a solid average at times.

 

i think he could be a stop gap if dominguez isnt ready.

 

also, i think if someone deserves a chance to make the lineup is ozzie martinez and not bonifacio. martinez plays excellent defense and can actually hit too.

His career OBP is .297. I think the FO is shying away from those type of hitters.

He will probably be able to get a little bit more than the Marlins could offer, but if he'd accept a low deal and be ok platooning with 2-3 starts a week max, he would be a solid fit as a role player.

Seconding this. He has been one of the least valuable players in baseball (who starts) the last 2 years. We already have Bonifacio, we don't need another guy like that.

I have a feeling he ends up in St. Louis while their slide to mediocrity continues.
