March 10, 201114 yr I'd keep the eye on Maybin, not Miller. I agree with this. Homeboy is 23 years old, has still shown a lot in the minors, brings a great glove, and all that jazz. Will he be a superstar? Probably not, but I'm betting he'll be a solid major leaguer. He has the one thing Hermida never showed: a willingness to work.
March 10, 201114 yr I highly doubt that the original poster even had him in mind, but Jason Vargas had a mild breakout last season. His numbers would place him in competition with Anibal for the #2 spot in the rotation.

March 10, 201114 yr What is Jeremy Hermida up to? is he working at Burger King by now? He's a Cincinnati Red

March 20, 201114 yr 4 H, 2BB, no outs recorded for Andrew Miller today. WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO PLAYERS WE GIVE UP ON??

March 20, 201114 yr Jeremy Hermida is having an awesome spring training. 24 at bats. You know who's putting up good numbers with 24 AB's for the Marlins? Joe Thurston. I don't see anybody hear clamoring for Joe Thurston to make the Marlins squad because he's had an awesome 24 Spring Training at bats. But hey, there's always the chance that Jeremy Hermida someday becomes that all star everybody's been begging for him to be since forever. /bitternessfornoreason
March 21, 201114 yr It's not like I said he's a Hall of Famer. I just stated the obvious. Nope. Mentioning a good first 24 ABs in Spring Training is practically screaming "He's a First Ballot Hall of Famer".
March 22, 201114 yr Who will be playing independent league ball first? Miller or Hermida? As a serious question (which I sincerely doubt it was), I'd put a lot of money on ol' A Mille in that bet. Hermida is a potentially useful 4th/5th OF at least; I'm sure he can OPS .700. Miller is completely useless on a major league team.
March 22, 201114 yr I still think Hermida can be successful. He showed the world he can. He just needs the drive.
