Posted March 8, 201114 yr MLB Tonight said that Andrew Miller topped out at 96 mph with great command for the red sox. Not that I wanted to keep him around, but I will be pissed if he all of the sudden breaks out after we invested so much time and Miguel Cabrera into him.
March 8, 201114 yr The Red Sox are excited about the potential of lefthander Andrew Miller, who has four strikeouts without a walk in four innings this spring. But Terry Francona dropped a heavy hint earlier today that the 25-year-old would start the season with Triple A Pawtucket.
March 8, 201114 yr I know a lot fo you guys were frustrated with him but honestly I would have given him a couple of more years... The guy in my eyes always had the stuff to make it, he just needed to get his head straight.

March 8, 201114 yr Im selling. He's had one season since high school where he's thrown strikes (Junior year in college).
March 8, 201114 yr yeah, I saw that before I headed to class. Tom Verducci said he looked REALLY good. but, I mean, he couldn't cut it here. I'd be floored if he could cut it in the AL East
March 8, 201114 yr They're going to do the smart thing and send him to Triple A to start the year even if his success continues. They see this as a long term project.
March 8, 201114 yr I remember he pitched 7 shutout innings against the Dbacks in 2008 or something. I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't at the game.
March 8, 201114 yr So now he's, what, the 2nd worst pitcher in the majors now? #1 Renyel Pinto? 2 way tie between Pinto Bean and He's our guy!!!
March 8, 201114 yr I was surprised to see him hit mid 90's. The difference between most minor leaguers and big leaguers is consistency and don't think Miller will ever be consistently good.

March 9, 201114 yr It will be very disappointing if he breaks out this year. God why does this always happen to players WE let go, and not the other way around ? Other than Uggla have we gotten someone else's trash and made them good ?

March 9, 201114 yr Pitchers often put it together later - that is the problem with options (from a team PoV) and the benefit (from the player PoV)

Other than Uggla have we gotten someone else's trash and made them good ? I actually think the opposite is true. We have a reputation for taking players that aren't relevant and making them significant like Cantu, Ross, Uggla, Kiko Calero, or Dan Meyer.
March 9, 201114 yr Pitchers often put it together later - that is the problem with options (from a team PoV) and the benefit (from the player PoV) Maybe he can put it together in the minor leagues this year. Y'know, since he couldn't pitch in the minor leagues last year, either.
March 10, 201114 yr It will be very disappointing if he breaks out this year. God why does this always happen to players WE let go, and not the other way around ? Other than Uggla have we gotten someone else's trash and made them good ? Like who? Yeah, I'd like to hear this gem as well.
