Isn't 9k good for a minor league team though?

Seriously though, that's terrible. Especially on the weekend.

that's seriously unbelievable for a season opening series on the weekend! Are you sure that number is accurate?

This.

Not like the Marlins don't get games with around 10k attendance...

But the opening series? On the weekend nonetheless? That's rough.

That city and that franchise have been going down the tubes pretty rapidly. Weather is never a good excuse, but I'd bet that temperatures in the 40s are a dealbreaker for a lot of people on top of the fact that the franchise isn't very exciting.

The same thing happens with the Orioles. Both teams were good in the 90s and had new parks that sold out every night. Now the teams suck and people lost enthusiasm. April is always a bad month for the Orioles too. When that temperature gets below 50 you start seeing a lot of ~10,000-12,000 nights. It should pick up a bit when it gets warmer.

I know the Indians were down 14-0 last night, but they made a pretty good comeback towards the end to make it 14-10.

That's something to build on.

Isn't the 2nd game of the season usually much smaller attendances than Opening Day? Sure there is a stat out there to prove it

I don't know when their stadium was made but if fans were complaining about weather first and foremost before they made it, no one to blame but whoever decided against a retractable roof stadium.

Milwaukee did it right with there stadium.

Come on guys, when you have glass windows you don't throw stones.

I think this is more about how all the stones are constantly thrown at our house, we just want to see one single stone thrown at someone else. It's been a couple years since we've had the worst attendance but the Florida teams (Rays too) are the only ones constantly receiving potshots about it.

When you are at or very near the bottom of that list year in and year out, and when your local media continually get their digs in on it, MV is right. Don't throw stones.

Did you read my post? Not throwing stones, just wondering why we're the only one being pelted with rocks.

It is annoying, can't get angry anymore, just a constant annoyance, that it is true that only the Marlins have to endure pot shots for the empty seats. Until late in the season last year, all you could see in Cincy were red seats, cleveland, baltimore. etc. but only if a ball went in to the stands at a marlins game would ESPN sports center say "um, as usual no one there to catch that ball". Forget about weather, your reigning AL east champion, indoors draw 22,000 on the first saturday night game. Rays Nation.

The Rays and Marlins are consistently competitive, more so than teams like Oakland or Cleveland.

Well, the economy sucks. Some people say a double dip recession may happen if gas and food prices go up. *gulp*
