May 10, 201115 yr Please explain.....does he have dirty pictures of Samson or Beinfest ? $ 7 million wasted on this bum and we needed help at 3rd. Makes a lot of sense. :banghead
May 10, 201115 yr Yeah they made a huge mistake with him. I'd rather see Nate Robertson than Javier. That's sad...
May 10, 201115 yr how many more starts does javy get? i'd like to say none but i figure realistically two more bad outings will get him out of the rotation. jay buente is pitching well down in new orleans.

May 10, 201115 yr Needed a pitcher. They clearly weren't expecting Vazquez to be the worst pitcher in baseball.
May 10, 201115 yr Relax and dea with it. He will be here until june at the least, in my opinion. Not a bad move, just hasn't turned out how we've wanted it too yet.

May 10, 201115 yr It was a low-risk contract with a high potential reward that has obviously not come to fruition. I just hope they don't wait too long to cut their losses.
May 10, 201115 yr Javier Vazquez: Do not pass go. Do not collect $7 Million. Or at least just take it and leave.
May 10, 201115 yr we're not a playoff team if vazquez and volstad are starting 40% of our games. both have been horrible, but volstad probably has a slightly better chance of getting his act together. vazquez...stick a fork in him. the back end of the rotation is holding this team back.

Dude there were cheaper options that didn't have the question marks that Vazquez had after his lost year in Yankeeland.

I have to agree with you. And the way this FO works, it will be either do nothing or try to do something way to late and we'll once again miss the playoffs. I heard today on MLB network that this upcoming draft is loaded with pitching. Maybe for once Beinfest can draft a pitcher. His results so far only show one winner (Johnson).

May 10, 201115 yr There really is no explanation needed. We needed a pitcher. He was a low risk option with high reward based on his play two seasons ago while he was in the NL. You are only complaining because it hasn't worked out.

You are only complaining because it hasn't worked out. There were other options, and cheaper ones. This owner is skeptical about spending any money, and we spend $ 7 million on this guy who all signs said was done. It was not low risk, because now a good chunk of the seasons budget has been spent on this bum. We now don't have the money to spend later this year because of the waste on Vazquez. Loria is not one to open his wallet very wide at the end of a season. Just look at 2 years ago. We missed the playoffs by 6 games because they didn't want to spend (only explaination I can think of) money to get us into the WC.

Yeah, because drafting studs who fly through the minors like Strasburg are available every year.
May 10, 201115 yr I was optimistic about Vazquez but I am starting to become more optimistic about him leaving.

May 10, 201115 yr Hurricane, look at the last draft. the Marlins spent above draft slot money for a bunch of guys. Most notably to me, they spent $700,000 on Jacob Realmuto to keep him away from playing football at Oklahoma State and to make him the catcher of the future. He's going to be a good player. There were a bunch of guys this year in the draft that the Marlins spent a ton of cash on. You just have selective attention. You see only what you want to see.

Who were those options with a clear track record and anywhere near the upside of Vazquez, whom the FO obviously thought would regain his 2009 form, or something close to it? I'll attempt to engage in rational discussion with you. Go ahead.
