June 10, 201115 yr At least we didn't sign Dan Uggla to 5 years to have him perform like he is performing now! I think that would be worse than Buck and Javy.
June 10, 201115 yr Lack of depth is a hard thing to overcome and that is the Front Office's / Ownership's fault. Edwin is being expected to win with bench players in the lineup and AAA players on the bench. I think this is correct. I think that the front office also overestimated the talent of Coghlan, Infante, and Buck, and this isn't just speaking in hindsight. I agree with this. These three players have been disappointing to say the least.
June 10, 201115 yr As of right now, I'm really glad that Uggla never signed the 4-year deal. That would be looking terrible, as it's an untradeable contract the way he's performing. He's been one of the worst players in baseball this year. As for Edwin, I'd like to see a different lineup. For starters, Gaby should be protecting Mike Stanton in the lineup. Until that happens, Stanton is going to be getting a lot of garbage pitches to hit with men on base. There's a reason why most of his HR's are solo shots; Stanton needs better protection in the lineup; John Buck is not the answer.

Despite his age and inexperience, it seems odd to have a guy who is #1 on the team in HRs and #2 on the team in rbis (trailing Gaby by 2) hitting 6th in the line-up while unproductive outs like Coghlan and Infante get more ABs per game

As for the lineup, I believe we need to change it up a lot when Ramirez comes back. Ramirez-Morrison-Sanchez-Stanton-Dobbs-Bucks-Coghlan-Infante. Really, you could do it anyway you want, as long as Coghlan, Infante and Buck are hitting 6,7 and 8. Finding a better platoon partner for Dobbs would help, too.

I just can't stand seeing Cogz and Infante in the 1-2 spot...
June 10, 201115 yr I hope the FO gives Edwin some help at some point...Look at tonight's line-up: Boner, Helms, and Ozzie are all starting...blechhh
June 11, 201115 yr Could Edwin's job be on the line? I know we have injuries but will the owner blame him not getting team ready to play?. We are now on a 8 game losing streak, how much longer before he is fired or sent back to jacksonville???? no way...he's doing a fine job
June 11, 201115 yr Everyone calm down. Edwin should be fine. You cant fire a guy for going on a losing streak while his 2 premier players are injured. I mean you cant do it if you have a heart.

June 11, 201115 yr I just can't stand seeing Cogz and Infante in the 1-2 spot... My guess is the Marlins have the worst combined OBP out of those two spots in the NL.
June 14, 201115 yr Is it his fault? Probably not. Is he going to be fired very soon? Probably. Wish someone could fire Loria and bring in someone with money to spend that won't tie the hands of the FO
June 14, 201115 yr Wish someone could fire Loria and bring in someone with money to spend that won't tie the hands of the FO Except that the whole idea of anyone spending money not justified by the franchise itself is totally unrealistic. For a year or two? Sure, and Loria did exactly that on '04/'05. Fans didn't show up, so that came to a justified end. Not even George Steinbrenner was willing to do more than that, nor would anyone in their right mind. A more realistic wish might be for someone with a better ability to develop the franchise as a whole, as Steinbrenner did with the Yankees. But, Miami ain't NY, so the media and other possibilities are limited. And, considering that Loria is the guy who actually got the new stadium done after almost 20 years, he accomplished the single biggest thing that could be done to develop the franchise. Hard to fault him considering the market we're in.
June 14, 201115 yr I think Edwin would be in trouble if guys like Coghlan, Infante, Buck, Dobbs, Vazquez, etc. weren't sucking horrendously and the Marlins were still losing ballgames. However, it's hard to pin all of that poor performance on the manager.
June 14, 201115 yr At least Buck and Infante are showing signs of turning it around. Vasquez and Coghlan have been very bad the entire season.
June 16, 201115 yr Author i think this lost could cost Edwin job someone going get blame for downfall so you cannot fire team it manger
June 16, 201115 yr itd be another cop out to fire edwin. its not his fault. were relying on young, unproven players and washed up veterans to win games. on top of that we r relying on an ace whos never shown he can finish a season, a closer whos been mediocre, no farm system, and a couple of solid pitchers who are 3-4s on any contender. this team is playing like it should if they have a couple bad breaks. and considering its a 162 game season, theres bound to be hiccups along the way. you cant just go into every season thinking everyone will stay healthy and all ur young unproven talent will play at a high level.
June 19, 201115 yr Author this week coming up i do see Edwin been replace must likely during homestand i do see Loria firing him you know manger will get blame for this because their cannot fire all player
June 19, 201115 yr Loria will probably end up firing Beinfest and Hill at this point, the new GM wil fire Edwin for him.
