Now the only MLB 2B with 5 straight 30 homer seasons. Hit #30 tonight.

Good God...

When speaking about Dan Uggla the words "second baseman" need to be put in quotation marks.

He's definitely a fine hitter, but he's really a 1B/LF/DH masquerading as a second baseman, which should diminish his accomplishment somewhat.

Dude's 31 years old. Do it for another 6-8 years and we might be talking HOF.

Tell me, other than his HR numbers, what strikes him as having a potential hall of fame career?

If he could have gotten to the bigs earlier and produced like he has then I would def consider him for the HOF. I just don't think he'll play long enough nor continue to produce like he has later in his career to warrant HOF consideration.

His name is Swedish for "owl". That's Hall of Fame worthy.

If Jeff Kent gets a really low vote total, I don't think Uggla will have much of a shot. In the end they will probably finish with somewhat close HR and OPS+ numbers. If Uggla blows past the 400 HR mark, he might have a shot, but that will also depend on what position he is playing a few years from now.

Uggla is tied with Stanton :o

How dare he!

Uggla>Stanton.

How dare I.

No really... how dare you?

Uggla's power numbers will bear some consideration, but his .259 BA and his high strikeout totals (almost one per game avg) will certainly doom any serious chance. Hard to say if he'll be able to continue to hit all those HR's too, if he can than that will change things a little in the eyes of voters as the inflated offensive numbers seem to be a thing of the past.

I'll say it again, Uggla is greater than Stanton. Oh my...

His middle name is Cooley. I think that gives him a little push.

Can you elaborate on why you feel this way?

I think maybe he's on death row and he wants Marlins fans to kill him.

I think this is about right. It's also worth mentioning that Uggla is just a couple years from the dreaded 33-years-old. It'll be all down hill from there. I don't see any possible way that Uggla gets to 400 HR.

Why?

Stanton's career numbers: .260/.338/.529/.867

Uggla's career numbers: .259/.342/.484/.826

And Uggla sucks on defense while Stanton is pretty good.

Oh, and Stanton is a decade younger.

I was a Uggla fan first. That's why.

Uggla over Stanton.

Stanton over current Mahlins. Esp, Hanley.

Mike Stanton is 10 years younger and still better at everything he does. Specifically HRs, where he can hit them more often and harder.

That couldn't be a worse reason.

Don't need a good reason...it's my opinion, durr.

Durr is right.

Greg Dobbs is the team MVP this year.

I see what u did there.

Yeah, sorry; just too easy.

But, for the record, this isn't really an straight opinion thing. Like Uggla better is, saying Uggla is better at baseball is not. Just like saying Amezaga is better than A-Rod can not be defended by "it's an opinion".

Don't put words into my mouth (that I took out of my mouth before this conversation - like dentures).

Guys, Vazquez is AMAZING and Uggla is a Hall of Famer and waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Stanton. I shouldn't have to even explain why; if you can't tell, then that's your problem.
