Apparently he rejected a multi-year offer.

wants to stay with the team and is optimistic.

they probably offered league minimum....cheap bastards...

I wonder how much Infante thinks he's worth...

2B's a thin market... 4mil/year?

Or he's overestimating his worth.

As much as we'd like to lock him up ASAP, this will be the last multi-year contract of his career and his biggest payday, so he's just doing his due-diligence. I'd assume he's trying to get as many years as possible.

Hopefully we can make it happen.

i was actually thinking maybe 2yr/10 million.

Without investigating comparable contracts, that just "feels" a little high to me. I would feel better about 2/8 or 3/12, but I'm not sure.

The team has an edge going into discussions with him. Boni can play the position very well. That takes the edge away from him. If he wants to play here the contract will be friendly. If he is going for the "big" payday, ala Pudge in '04, he will be gone.

The team doesn't really have an "edge."

Boni can play the position, true. However, Boni might have to play either 3B or CF next year, considering we have no one at those positions, either.

Having Infante back next year would be ideal.
