I'm looking at him as a 4th-5th starter.. don't see how I'm overrating him. If anyone is being overrated, its Nolasco

 

 

The fact is this guy won't get us into the playoffs. Obviously nobody here has watched him play. He's lazy, his delivery sucks, he has ZERO stamina, struggles to get through innings, and he's a cancer in the locker-room. If I were the cubs, I'd cut him.

 

If you want to be a serious contender next year and want a veteran, go after Chris Carpenter, CJ Wilson, etc. sh*t, Sergio Mitre probably has more upside than this nut-job. How can anyone seriously want this guy?

We're not getting Carpenter or CJ. As for Mitre, I'll pretend you didn't say that.

Look. I'm not looking for Zambrano to come here and post a low 3 ERA. I'm not even looking for him to post a high 3. But if he comes here, keeps his attitude in check (which I believe Ozzie will have a huge impact on), throws hard, and stays healthy, why not? Especially since it looks like he'd be cheaper than Nolasco, whom I still say Zambrano is better than when in the right frame of mind.

 

Changing scenery and playing for a close friend who doesn't take sh*t from players at a minimal cost to the team. Tell me what's wrong with this.

Weird. I saw it on Ozzie's page when it first happened. Maybe he deleted it because it was a day or two before the announcement?

FWIW Boog Sciambi was on with LeBatard yesterday and he said from talking with guys who cover the Cubs and talk to their players that after Z beat the hell outta Barret that his teammates are literally scared of him. I gotta think you're one scary crazy motherf**er to scare teammates on a big league roster.

There's a difference between Milton Bradley and Zambrano.. Bradley had a chip on the shoulder, attitude problem, a really bad temper.. pretty much he was a gigantic prick.

 

Zambrano is just not normal.. not all there. He does have a bad temper but he's actually a genuinely nice guy. Just off his rocker.. doesn't make rational decisions when he's up against the wall and way too competitive.. just gets way too caught up in the moment. When he's on the bench and not the starter, he's laughing with teammates, joking around, etc. He's like a child in a gigantic mans body.. and if Zambrano and Ozzie have a good relationship, I like to think that Ozzie could contain him.

 

I'd compare him to Ron Artest more than Bradley.

He did beat the crap out of Barnett, though. It was insane.
