October 16, 201114 yr OK, when did you play Everquest and for how long? I never played it but that doesn't mean I'm not familiar with it. But either way, my point was that you can't just pull a card and say 'you don't like it therefore you've never played it'. I've also never played wow. But I've watched it. Do I understand why it's addictive? Of course. Do I understand why people get interested in the first place? Not in the slightest. It looks awful. I've seen plenty of it, too. I'd hate to play it, so chances are I'd dislike the game and get hooked anyways and then eventually quit and realize that in fact do hate the game.
October 16, 201114 yr You've gotta play to understand it. That's the only way you can. My point was that you couldn't have really tried it, truly. Which, as you're saying, you haven't. I tried Runescape for a week, didn't like it at all, couldn't get into it. It was worse than being in class with a boring teacher for me. I watched a friend play and thought "maybe it gets better later in the game..." and I was disappointed.
October 16, 201114 yr :lol you counteract your point fully by saying 'I played it for a week'. Playing an MMORPG for a week is like not playing it at all. It is the equivalent to watching someone else play it. I'm not saying you can't have your opinion, but your opinion is neither fact, nor do the majority agree with you.

I haven't seen anyone else speak up against it, in fact one person brought up that they enjoyed Everquest. And a week was long enough.

There are a lot of user-based things within the game (namely clanning) that you can't possibly know anything about unless you were a high level AND a member of a certain online community forum. I played the game actively from 2004 or 2005 to 2008, the last two years of which I gained about 1 combat level because I just played for clans. The (original non-runescape sponsored) clan community is still alive within Runescape and I'd say approximately 90% of them don't actually play the game for anything other than clans. In my opinion, the clan world in runescape from 2006-2007 was the most fun anyone could ever have in a video game.

I was talking about the popularity of the game. Runescape is most definitely a more popular game. You've gotta play to understand it. That's the only way you can. There's two different worlds to that game... the involved world that you get into after playing for a while and the clueless world where you don't know anything. The game is weak for a beginner but at a certain point it becomes really fun when you're able to do more stuff. I'm willing to bet you (or anyone) that you didn't play the game the fun way. I'd have to say that's more-so because it's free unless one wished to donate, not cause of it being a good game. My opinion on that, anyways.
October 17, 201114 yr Author Lets get back to talking about the likes of Arkham City I LIKE BATMAN f*** batman. Its all about turtles. Pfft, Batman would stomp on turtles if he wasn't so friendly.

Even if we're talking subscribed members only, I'd imagine the unique population is still larger than Everquest. I can't imagine Runescape is too far off the most popular MMORPG game if we completely remove World of Warcraft (which holds, if I recall correctly, 64% of the MMORPG market). But yes, you're absolutely right. It's because the game is very attainable. It's free to start (with lots of abilities to do for free, not just a gimmicky trial), it's easily accessible (being web-based and HDD free), and it's well established (having one of the highest volumes of unique users for an MMORPG over the past decade).
October 17, 201114 yr Thing is, World of Warcraft had been anticipated for a long time, and when it came out, it met or exceeded enough people's expectations that they said, "Hey, I'm willing to pay for this for a long period of time." and that's pretty much what happened. I think if you really gave either one of those a try (they do have trials, WoW you can get up to level 20, Everquest to 10 I believe), you'd find it pretty pleasing. Who knows *shrug*. Maybe I should "recruit-a-friend" you. You get an experience bonus til you hit the max level

I absolutely hate that game. And I know for fact I've experienced enough of it, even without playing it. Same goes to League of Legends. I hate that crap. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

October 19, 201114 yr I don't even know what game you're commenting on, but that's just wrong. You can easily observe another game and not like the game.

You can say it doesn't look fun, but you can't say it sucks without trying it. This is really a pointless argument, in my opinion. We can agree to disagree. Different opinions on different games.
