Logan Morrison today visited with Marlins doctors, who examined his sore right knee. Morrison will have minor surgery Monday and is expected to be riding an exercise bike the following week, according to his agent, Fred Wray.

 

The recovery time is about six weeks, and Morrison is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.

 

When I caught up with LoMo in Jupiter yesterday, he sounded like he was expectingdoctors to recommend surgery, since his knee has been bothered him off and on since May.

 

Morrison, 24, said he was given a plasma replacement shot, which was supposed to speed up the healing process over four weeks.

 

“Well, this is four weeks and if I can still feel it doing stuff like this, how will it feel when I’m doing everything in spring training?’’ he said.

But seriously, I love LoMo's style of play. I hope he keeps up the same intensity, while being a bit more conservative. I just love knowing that he's not afraid to lay it all out on the line, up by 10 or down by 10.

I'm guessing he was hoping it was heal without the need for surgery, but it didn't improve. It's preferable to avoid surgery altogether if you can, I would think.

I would think this is correct. Add in the time line factor. He had the time to try different things (rest, that shot) and still have the time for the surgery without missing any ST time.

Lucky he didn't damage it further playing in Taiwan..

He didn't really rest, though. He was flying across the world playing in exhibition games.

After he tweeted that, I sent him a tweet saying "I'd say break a leg, but it seems you won't be walking for the next couple days anyways ..."
