December 13, 201114 yr This should be interesting. The Philadelphia Phillies have reached agreement on a one-year major league deal with free agent Dontrelle Willis, a baseball source said Tuesday. The deal, pending completion of a physical, would pay Willis about $1 million and include additional money for performance bonuses, the source said.
December 13, 201114 yr Given his issues that's probably the worst environment for him outside of New York.
December 13, 201114 yr f***ing Phillies. D-train im disappointed in you. Im surprised the Phillies even took a chance on him.
December 13, 201114 yr Author f***ing Phillies. D-train im disappointed in you. Im surprised the Phillies even took a chance on him. I think at this point Dontrelle would have signed with any team that wanted him because there are so few that do. And I'm also surprised the Phillies of all teams wanted him.
December 13, 201114 yr He'll probably be used mostly in the pen and maybe be a sixth starter, if needed.
December 13, 201114 yr The best way to use him other than converting him to an outfielder is as a LOOGY, and even that might be asking too much from him. I agree that doesn't seem the best environment for someone with anxiety issues. Still I'll always wish him well
December 14, 201114 yr The D-train had his day, 70% of the time he was a wreck on the mound (***thinks back about nose picking and un-tucked jersey***) He was a lose cannon, I never liked his wind-up, always looked awkward and unconfortable.

Still I'll always wish him well Maybe they only signed Dontrelle as their LOOGY so nobody else in the NL East could sign him as their LOOGY. Might actually be worth a cool Mill to pay Dontrelle not to pitch somewhere else, lol. His numbers last year against lefties were crazy, I think I read the opponenets BA was .127 and OPS was below .400...
December 18, 201114 yr and as an emergency bat for a PH role no doubt if they get into extra innings, unless he's forgotten how to swing the stick too. I'd have been all for it if we didn't have a guy like Choate signed to the team already as our lefty specialist. In fact, I almost guarantee you the front office would have reacquired him because of his popularity and his actual newfound niche skill that he seems to be great at. I hope D-Train does find new life and continues his career. Nothing like seeing those big pearly whites lighting up a stadium!
