The Franchise?

Featured Replies

So let's see -

It's July 28, and we're 2 games out of the wild card. We clearly need some more offense and Player X is available, if we agree to trade ex-Leo Nunez plus a top prospect.

You can bet there will be "secret meetings" that Showtime is not invited to. The filmed meetings will be very carefully choreographed. This is not government in the sunshine.

Just sayin'...........

I dont like the idea of a show about the Marlins at all...

Any reason?

Not sure if it will effect the players performance or not on the field, plus I dont like the thought of us being turned into a circus act

yeah. it probably will be a huge distraction to the players. good point.

f*** it. I still really want to see it.

That's what I'm worried about.

So, has anybody seen showtime at ST? i went to the 1st ST game and didn't notice any cameras. When does the 1st episode air?

Honestly, I think that this will bring out the best in some of our key guys. They want to enhance their image both on and off the field and while doing it on the field is just a matter of going out there and performing at your best. Getting to know some of these guys off the field will surely help their image. Hanley is one guy I can see really liking this idea. He is a guy who now has a bad wrap because of his actions in the past. Now with all that has gone on, he has a chance to really endear himself to the rest of America. I think we will see some of these guys at their best because of this.

I'm gonna like your post.

Ready?

Done.

I dont want to see Samson for extended periods of time

They don't concentrate on the front office stuff too much. But I am sure Samson will make sure to get his mug on there a few times - no doubt about that.

They do more stories like concentrating on one player for much of the episode and tell his story - that of an injury comeback or some kind of human interest type deal. I can see one episode that concentrates mostly on Johnson and his comeback. I could also see them do a show with Buck and his massive charity work he does, especially with his Mormon church.

Zambrano is also one who could benefit from this as well.

Zambrano is another guy with a chance to really help his image

Two minds who think alike, at least for a passing millisecond.

Old Timer pretty much nailed the format

They'll do some front office stuff and mention meeting, etc

They will also show some of the training, prep work, pranks, etc that you typically aren't able to see

However, as the season develops so do stories ......... for example, last year with the giants Vogelsong made a nice story on the program and the Posey incident got a lot of play

They also did a lot of focus on the Beltran trade and his impact (which was kind of cool seeing him come in and working with some of the other guys at the batting cages, etc)

There are a couple stories that are sure fire - ozzie transitioning, the new stadium/image, josh johnson return, hanley switching to 3B ........ however, a lot of the program and story lines will develop as the season develops

Yeah i think the stadium and Ozzie are probably the two stories that get the early play. Then as the season goes on, the other stories develop.

For some reason i had the impression that this show was like NFL Hard Knocks on HBO -- they pretty much shoot and produce within a week, every week, so when it's aired the stories are pretty much in real time -- maybe a week behind. and, it's also done training camp -- not the actual season. I guess Showtime takes their time with this show. I can't wait to see it.

what you see isn't too far from 24/7 or Hard Knocks ...... there is just a little more lag time into it

depending on how many episodes they put out and how the story lines progress you will probably see some faster production turnaround

last season the first episode premiered on July 13th and they ran it to pretty much the end of the season

this followed a "premier" in April that was kind of a preview for the show .... the premier basically covered the offseason stuff, introduced the components, etc

then when it started they kind of got you caught up with the season and progressed from there

I found it really interesting as many of the stories were new to me ..... i think as a marlins fan, the program may be a little different as it's a program for a national audience - basically, they may frame stuff in a way that is a little off, or present stories that we know by heart and run with them because others have no idea, etc

I hope there is a box set of the show after the season is over

I think last season came out on DVD. I hope this one does as well.
