The Franchise?

Featured Replies

I don't know if it was The Franchise or not, but the show that followed around the Sox and Ozzie a year or two ago was very interesting and entertaining.

I hope this happens.. the more things I can watch that have to do with the Fish that entertain me, the better.

That was "The Franchise" and last year they chonicled the San Francisco Giants.

He's talking about The Club, on MLB Network.

Yep, thanks Rab.. that show was pretty good. Ozzie is certainly entertaining. Never really watched any of last years Franchise, but I sure as hell will this year!

We should just create a new show and call it "The Team" and put it on TBS.

or just create The Forum, about our website. !

This is going to make the marlins a bigger joke. I want to see the show, but at the same time I don't want it to be produced.

Bad publicity is good publicity.

Showtime and MLB are finalizing discussions? As in $$$? Do the Marlins get a majority of that or just an equal share with the other teams? Would the players get a share, or would that be considered "part of their contract"?

None of these questions really mean anything. I'm just being curious.

Read the latest MLBPA/MLB agreement, if you can find it. All I can find is the old one.

Buried somewhere in what is probably 200 pages or so or in one of the numerous letter-based annexes to it will be some statement about who gets what, assuming they bothered to address it.

Who knows? Maybe they didn't bother and the Marlins get the entire benefit. Assuming there is one. Which gets back to the old saw "all publicity is good publicity."

I'm not necessarily saying "The Franchise" show will give the Marlins bad publicity, but I would like to voice my disagreement with the concept of "all publicity is good publicity". My Public Relations professor said the same thing. If you think about it, it's just stupid. If you're a business and you get bad publicity, which would damage your reputation and potentially lower sales, how is that good publicity?

do you know who Kevin Feredline is?

if you answered yes: your professor's wrong.

Why are people under the assumption that their main goal is to make the Marlins look bad?

Such a statement to me is as silly as saying 'all news is good news'.

No noose is good noose!

That was all funny... except for the point you were trying to get across lol.

The Miami Marlins getting an investigation based on faulty loans. No press is bad press? What possible good directly comes out of that?

I'm not. I'm just saying I don't like that saying.

That's what you get for going to FSU :)

If you're a Kardashian, all publicity is good publicity. At least to them it is.

Anyway, a major part of what public relations firms do is limit the damage when a client, be it a politician or business, etc. gets bad publicity. They would all be out of business if all publicity was good publicity.

If you're someone like Kim Kardashian whose stardom is based on drama, then I guess all publicity is good publicity, but in most real-world situations, it's not. The Marlins are a baseball team, not reality TV-stars.

Publicitiy for Stanton and JJ will be a good thing. I suspect Hanley will shy away from cameras. Ozzie will have the time of his life with it.

Yeah, that was my point.

the Marlins are just an object in the entertainment industry. if ESPN's talking about them every day multiple times, that's awesome.
