March 14, 201214 yr So far this Spring the guy has given up 1 H and no walks in 10.1 IP.... these are his stats so far 10.1 IP 1 H 9 K 0 BB 0.09 WHIP 0.00 ERA sick.
March 14, 201214 yr Most important stat there is no walks. Players often try out new things in ST or simply don't try their best so the 0.00 ERA could somewhat be attributed to those things...Control though is another story. If he hasn't walked a single batter in 10+ IP then he's clearly feeling comfortable with his command over his pitches.
March 14, 201214 yr He's been amazing so far. I think its pretty safe to say he has the LRP spot locked.
March 15, 201214 yr I still hope the Marlins dump Nunez/Oviedo. The bullpen depth his there; they don't need his services at that price tag.
March 15, 201214 yr Ozzie on LeBlanc after today's performance: "If spring training have a Cy Young award, he would win that one."

Even though I won the debate on that one, I agree with you :lol We should have a great 'pen regardless. If Oviedo figures out his situation (and is still in good baseball shape), then he would be a good asset to the bullpen. But I'm sure we can find a solid group of 7 guys to hang out down there. Hopefully we don't have to rely on them as much this year as in recent years though.
March 15, 201214 yr Id say at this point he has definitely earned a spot in the Pen. Looking that way. Before ST I thought he would be sent to AAA to keep his work up in case of an injury here. Depth is very important. See last year. But right now it is kinda hard to say he dosen't deserve to break camp with the big club in a long relief role.
March 15, 201214 yr If Ozzie said that for real...haha. If not...haha. He definitely said that for real.
March 16, 201214 yr Cham-pee-one-ship! Truthfully, we joke about things like this but in a way, its these under-the-rader fringe moves that can make or break a championship team if the core is in place. Roleplayers, a good pen, a good bench, that stuff goes a long way in supporting a championship year. Just wanted to point that out.

March 17, 201214 yr All of this is well and good, but a couple of Spring Training appearances don't change the fact that he is still Wade "4.54 Career ERA In Petco Park" LeBlanc. As well as he's throwing, he should still go down to AAA since he does have an option remaining. We have plenty of people who can fill in ably in the 'pen, but very few pitchers who could reasonably slot into the rotation in the event of an injury. LeBlanc threw 185 innings last year between the Majors and Minors. He's a starter, and he's pretty much the best SP depth we have. Keep him down, keep him stretched out and keep him starting so we have a first option in the inevitable event of an injury to a starter. Don't take away your best option as starting depth because he's having a good spring. No reason to risk him need extra time to stretch out in the event of an injury. We'll need him to start at some point this year, thats guaranteed.
