May 17, 201214 yr Marlins take the first game against the Braves, 8-4! W: Buehrle (3-4) L: Minor (2-3)
May 17, 201214 yr Gotta be Stanton, despite the rough defensive 7th. Great catch and timely bome to kill the Atlanta momentum. Infante keeps hitting and Kearns came up big in the cleanup spot.
May 17, 201214 yr Have to give it to Stanton tonight. He came up big both offensively and defensively. Big win against the first place Braves too.
May 17, 201214 yr Solid win against a tough divisional opponent. Great to see RISP improve especially with 2 outs. Buerhle wasn't great but good enough and Bell looked much better. 3 over .500, highest point of the season so far.
May 17, 201214 yr Kearns was the FOTG, besides his gaff in left field, he had the two early RBI's and a double which helped make Stanton's HR a little more important. Infante is on fire. Stanton is Giancarlo.
May 17, 201214 yr So hypothetically if the playoffs started today the Mets would play the Marlins as the wild card tiebreaker and the winner of that would play the Braves in the one game wild card playoff. lol
May 17, 201214 yr Solid win against a team and in a stadium that brings back many bad memories. Stanton's catch and home runs were game changers. Buehrle was solid except for little trouble in the 6ththat tarnished his line a little. Very nice to see the offense starting to come through.
May 17, 201214 yr Despite tonight's win, Fish has been struggled against lefthanded pitchers. (it ranked #29 of 30 teams.) Minor was one of terrible lefty with ERA 6. So I hope Marlins would get some confidence after this game. If we perform like tonight against lefty, we will getting close to pennant.
May 17, 201214 yr I'm surprised that Fredi left Minor in that long. By the 4th inning, the Braves were still very much in the game and it was pretty obvious that Minor didn't have it. The guy was getting hit so hard that I would have gone to the pen.

He couldn't manage a bullpen on his life.

He couldn't manage a bullpen on his life. Waltz and Hutton commented last night that the Atlanta fans gave Freddie trouble over overusing the bullpen last year. Many blamed team's poor showing at end of last year on an overworked bullpen. Hence according to them Freddi was using the bullpen less than his previous MO. If you use the bullpen less then starters have to stay in longer. Other remarks made said Braves' team owner decided to keep the team as well as general manager and FO the same and not go the route of Boston Red Sox of blowing up the team. When I heard those comments I wondered how secure Freddi's job was/is. :mis2
May 17, 201214 yr Freddi need a team of iron men so he can have a short bench and a long bullpen. Then he would be great!
