The Semi-official "Fire Eduardo Perez" Thread

Featured Replies

The one thing about this team that I see that I don't like is that they seem to swinging at everything with uppercut to hit HR instead of line drives. Look at Greg Dobbs he uses the whole park knows what the situation is and gets it done. I think the biggest example of this on team is Logan Morrison when he first came up he was a line drive hitter gap to gap now he is a pull hitter (look at the defensive shifts) which has taken him from his strenghts. The only guy the Marlins have that can do this is Giancarlo Stanton and he stated that Conine help him by giving him a tip of what he used to do in Batting Practice hitting ball to right field.

Does Eduardo Perez have anything to do with this or not I don't know but there needs to be some accountabilty for the problem this team is having with their situational/clutch hitting.

Maybe we can make Greg Dobbs player/hitting coach

Perez sucks plain and simple it was a knee jerk move to add him as hitting coach anyway. I do think you have to put some of the blame on his shoulders when the team ranks last in RISP and it's probably not even close. The most deflating thing as a fan is to think your going to score when you have runners on base and then nothing comes from it. The hitters need to change their thinking in these situations. I mean don't most players in baseball make adjustments with runners in scoring position, it seems like thats the case except when discussing the Marlins.

Does anyone really think that Coghlan, Murphy, Hayes, Buck, and Peterson are actually good hitters? The only surprises were Gaby and LoMo. But the other 4 starters are fine. That's not significant enough, in my opinion, to say he's clearly a/the problem.

Is he the solution? Probably not, but few, if any, hitting coaches ever are.

I was coming here to post this. Perez isn't going to make Coghlan, Buck, Petersen, Hayes, Kearns, et al something that they aren't.

The issue is a lack of talent/depth.

i thought the same thing ago when we had the jacobs, willing ham, olive combo in the lineup with the guy whose name i forgot as the hitting coach.

Its not the hitting coach, its the hitters. WE have like 5 automatic outs in our lineup a night. If anybody blame the front office for not wanting to go after fielder simply because he was fat and not latin.

I think Kearns has been doing well. Other than that I agree.

Pretty much this. The only huge concerns right now are LoMo and Gaby. Everyone else is pretty much playing at their talent level (Hanley's average is a little low but he's still OBPing and hitting for power). Perez has also done some great work with Infante and Bonifacio. And the FO likes him. He's not getting fired.

Yours, ya crabby ol' coot! Go be our GM!

Anywho ... Mickey Hatcher's available. Just sayin'.

And whose fault it that ? :clapping

lol so funny, yet so true. FO doesn't know how baseball works, probably the reason we should really only hope for an outside wild card chance.

Well I can't articulate but if we had Jim Presley as our hitting coach still, our offense would be just fine.

Yes to this.

Sampson, Loria.

Since they hired his bum in June of last year Gaby has hit a wall. Last years batting champ went 0-5 today. We are worst in the league in BA with RISP.

And you still wonder if he is the problem? Have you noticd that the guys that are hitting (Reg and Solano) havent been coached by him? Problem is he wont

get fired because his daddy is HOFer Tony Perez.

Better yet lets keep doing it the same way it's worked out great so far.

In your scenario no coach should ever get fired since they don't play. Great reasoning.

Even if he is not totally the problem, what's stopping them from going out and getting the best possible hitting coach they can find? The only thing that's stopping them from hiring the best possible coaches is their decision not to hire them. That's it.

Completly agree Mr. Man

You act like the hitting coach is more important than the players. In realitity it means very little. The best hitting coach in the world can't help a player of he's in a slump or just flat out ignores the advice. Good coaches and good managers lose. It comes down to the players on the field.

I'd like to know as well, who are the bet hitting coaches AVAILABLE right now that we are missing out on?
