July 9, 201213 yr I HATED Fredi because every time they showed him in the dugout, he had this "deer in the headlight" look. I never thought he was the man for the job and not sure he is doing that well in Atlanta although team is doing better than us.

Regardless of how good the team's doing.
July 9, 201213 yr Not forgetting he got McKeon as well. So one experience gives him a free pass for failures in almost every draft, trade and FA signing since then ? You're a cop right ? Say you save someone's life early in your career. Get commendations, key to the city, etc etc. Then you start making mistakes, like getting your partner shot, not staying on your patrol, crime goes up on your beat. Do you think you'd keep your job ? Same with Beinfest, why does he continue to get a free pass, year after year. His complete botching of the Cabrera trade & blowing five 1st round picks in 2005 should have cost him his job then and there. Why you decided to use an example that compares baseball to someone getting shot, I don't have a clue but a simple reference to any job would have worked. Every example you are listing for hating the FO is something that couldn't been predicted. Every team has bust and trades that blow up in their face. Shit happens. During the winter meetings weren't you saying that you won't believe the Marlins untill they start spending money and that they will never spend money.. Now that you spending your bitching about them spending money on high talent players that 2 out of three are PROBABLY having the worst year of their careers, one definately. Untill he starts missing big with a big payroll, he gets a pass for now. Before 2012 he was playing with a low payroll. A Lower payroll means you have to play on the level of high risk players. Hoping to find gold in the creek instead of going to a jewelry store. The fact that we even fielded a few winning teams over those years should mean something.
July 9, 201213 yr Heath Bell sucks right now but there comes a point where you have to wonder wtf is Ozzy thinking still throwing him out there. In between Ozzy still having Bell close games and having Hanley in the top third of our line up you have to wonder what goes through this guys head. I'd take Edwin over him. At least Edwin knew what he was doing half the time. Everybody has bitched about every manager since Joe G, except maybe McKeon. I liked Joe G as manager. And no one can replace Trader Jack Let me clear what i meant up alittle. Everybody since girardi but not including him.
July 9, 201213 yr If Ozzie Guillen was not too busy getting drunk after every game (his own admission) he would have the foresight to see that there is only one man on this team who should be closing for us...Steve Cishek. I know Leo Nunez is coming back, but he would be better off in a less stressful role, such as an 8th inning man. I honestly do not see anyone else but Cishek who can step up to the plate link? haha that cannot possibly be true. (him admitting it, at least) Ozzie Guillen admits he get's drunk after every game: http://www.nbcmiami....-146455145.html Then he needs to go. If he spends his off time drunk, he isn't spending enough time deciding what he and the team can do to change directions. Should Ron Washington go to, because he was doing blow. Knowing the effects of cocaine on people, would not have surprised me if he was using while he had baseball duties. Highly doubt he was using at a game though
July 9, 201213 yr I liked the way edwin managed. Sucks that the team had a terrible run and he knew he was gone next season anyways. But a quitter...no likely. I didn't have much a problem with him, I know people didn't like his running game.
July 9, 201213 yr Why Edwin? McKeon is the one I miss. Overall I don't think the manager makes a big difference, but I think that McKeon would have definitely kicked Bell out of the closer's role by now. And if that had been done, I absolutely think that the Marlins would have a measurably better W-L record. Ozzie is a loose cannon and yells a lot, but I don't think that he has McKeon's balls. I know it's just speculation, but I have trouble thinking that if Jack has a history of pulling relievers in the middle of ABs that he would really just sit there and watch Bell blow game after game. Ozzie just seems to make excuses for Bell and has the blind hope that he becomes lights out again. One of the reasons why I was apprehensive about bringing Ozzie to Miami was the way he handled Bobby Jenks sucking in 2010. Now he didn't suck nearly as bad as Bell has, but he did stumble a lot in the closer's role. Ozzie--I kid you not--literally used our two favorite phrases "He's my guy" and "this is a better team with Jenks as closer."
July 9, 201213 yr My fantasy was that they would bring Jack back this year. He would have chucked Bell after maybe two blown saves. Alas, not to be.
July 9, 201213 yr Well right...i mean Ozzie's tough guy thing is with the media really. He would file this under "having your player's back". Though again they didn't seem to have any problem benching Gaby... Definitely agree about Jack though, he'd have yanked him long ago and told reporters "I'm not here to babysit these guys."
July 9, 201213 yr Ozzie says all those thing to try and keep team unity and be "loyal" to his players. He's loyal to a fault. Some will laud him for this , the players, some will think he's a dumb-ass. ( most fans) I know that eventually Ozzie will see that Bell is just not going to turn the corner this year and we need to send him to the deep bullpen. How long will it take? One more blown save? How many more blown saves will it take? Your guess is as good as mine. I hope it doesn't take too long or we'll will be too far to make a run. Too bad Bell couldn't at least have been average. What a nightmare of a signing. What a disaster. . .

July 9, 201213 yr Anyway we can petition for Jack if so many want him???? For whatever reason? Watching him tell Bell and HanRam would be worth a ticket, lol
July 9, 201213 yr Ozzie says all those thing to try and keep team unity and be "loyal" to his players. He's loyal to a fault. This is his problem and contradiction. The guy prides himself on "telling the truth" to everyone within earshot. But, you can't babble on about loyalty when you're also busy telling people it's performance that counts. As in Ruggiano, Solano and Dobbs. They get playing time because they actually perform. So why does Bell get closing appearances? Because he doesn't blow every save? Pick one, Ozzie, you can't have both without sounding like an idiot.
July 9, 201213 yr Anyway we can petition for Jack if so many want him???? For whatever reason? Watching him tell Bell and HanRam would be worth a ticket, lol How cool would Jack have been? Oldest manager in history (other than Connie Mack) with the newest ballpark, new uniforms, new logo, new players, new image (which is why we don't have Jack,) new attitude, new everything. And no nonsense. I'll sign your petition, anytime. 25 times if it's like All-Star voting. :lol
July 9, 201213 yr People here were jumping for joy when the Marlins traded for Ozzie. I wasn't very enthused about it, but Ozzie hasn't been that terrible outside of his usage of Heath Bell. The Bell stuff is my only major complaint. I wish the Marlins had hired Buck Showalter back in 2010 when Fredi Gonzalez got canned.
July 10, 201213 yr I was never big on Ozzie. Beyond the one World Series ring, he was a lot of hot air, and I'm sure Miami doesn't need any more hot air. I would've tentatively leaned more towards Bobby Valentine when we had the chance, but really, that's like deciding over whether to hire Thing 1 or Thing 2. But I don't have a response of who TO get as far as manager. We're not going to get Tony LaRussa out of retirement for this. And for the record, I was enthused about Heath Bell as closer when the initial deal went down. There are some "I told ya' so" people out there, but it was an All Star closer. Not a whole bunch of those around. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big mistake made bigger because the manager doesn't want to manage the damn closing situation. What else needs to be said other than he has 6 losses and right now, the Marlins are 5 games out of the playoffs. A lot, I'm sure, but it sort of makes the point for me. I don't desire complete demolition of the team, but changes are going to be necessary for this season not be anything but an utter disaster.

I'd love to see Ozzie enjoying some suds in the dugout DURING the game much like trader jack did in Oakland smoking that cigar in Oakland by the no smoking sign. (although I think it was pregame) The marlins spent 27 million on the guy, and his personal life must be in the crapper with his wife and kids in SD and his father in failing health, you don't just pour more pain and misery on his life with a demotion when he HAD been proven. Send him home for a bit to be content until the end of the season. Ozzie should just go crazy already- and Beinfest should make a few trades and sign Bobby Jenks to have Ozzies mind reeling- which one is gonna be his guy. K-Rod is available- why not? Deplete the farm except for Yelich- get'r done!

The only way Bell wins his way back in my mind is to donate this year's salary to charity. It won't make up for the f*** ups, but it will show me that he truly feels remorse for his horrendous year.
July 10, 201213 yr Deplete the farm except for Yelich- get'r done! And Fernandez. Unless we get Greinke, no. Lol
