Mark Buehrle's last word on the Fish

Featured Replies

I don't know; I don't. Better question: Who really gives a sh*t if there was a verbal agreement or not? The whole thing is irrelevant.

?

Had it been Buehrle alone, you'd have a point - but when two (by general standards, good all-around) players say the same thing, then it becomes a bit harder to deny. That, and the structure of these contracts should raise enough suspicion for you to not ridicule it.

But if you're just saying that because Buehrle didn't get it in writing, he should stop whining, then we aren't going to agree. I think that it's a sh*tty thing to do if it was indeed premeditated - and even if it wasn't, they should come out and apologize.

Wouldn't the structure of the contracts make you believe the Marlins in this scenario?

The structure of the contracts did not include a no-trade clause.

A person's word is not necessarily truth. Buehrle and Reyes could have misinterpreted what was said. Nobody knows what was said. The only thing that's known is that the players did not receive no-trade clauses. They're now whining about something they had control over at the time they signed their contracts. If they didn't like it then, they should've done what Albert Pujols did. Simple.

I meant how back-loaded the contracts were. A person's word isn't truth necessarily, but two people saying the same thing carries weight. Did both Reyes and Buehrle misinterpret what was said? Not even getting the agents involved, who are probably just mouthpieces for their clients anyway, you have two people making the same claim.

I've come to learn over the years that some of you on this board must live miserable lives and must be completely and utterly unlikable in person.

That is all. Interpret it as you will

The team had no intention of trading him. The team then stunk, and the 2013 free agency class did not look to fix things. Not a lie.

The team intended to unload all of the back-loaded contracts in the first place. That is a lie.

You guys are all calling him out for 'whining'. I don't think the guy is whining. I think he's genuinely upset that he had to get up and move from somewhere he wanted to call home for more than 11 months. Come on guys, he's a f***ing human being. It's not his fault that when he complains the media publishes it and everyone knows about it. If I were him, I'd be bitching too.

If i had to believe Buehrle or Loria and the fo, i will go with Buehrle any day, because Loria have lie to the fans and MDC so much, it is hard to believe anything he say now.

Didnt ownership also basically lie about not trading Delgado back in the day?

At least he was insightful enough to get a clause put into his deal to make sure he didnt lose money.

This front office is a joke. I really have no clue how Beinfest and Co have a job still. For all Loria and Samson bitch and cry about building a team with young talent, the Marlins front office has done a HORRIBLE job through the years of actually drafting real talent. I believe they cited the Giants as an example.

They didnt screw up the draft for nearly a decade, thats why they have what they do. If Sabean had been as inept (or any GM for that matter) as Beinfest and Co, they would have been out the door long ago.

If Samson and Loria truly cared about building a winner, they fire Beinfest and Co. Because frankly, they have done a HORRIBLE job. And Beinfest is generally considered lazy when it comes to trading, instead of actually letting a trade work itself out. This Toronto trade itself is an example. To not get one of the top two prospects from Toronto is a joke. Especially when Reyes is involved. And just to think, in July the asking price for Josh Johnson was basically Profar and Olt from the Rangers or something similar.... Talk about a price that plummeted in 5 months.

Brian Sabean was absolutely awful at drafting for years until he got the current core of players, for what it's worth. And some of his free agent signings have been dreadful, as well.

he was absolutely awful till he built a team that won 2 World Series in three years? ok. great point.

regarding Delgado:

The agent of one former Marlins player said Loria assured his client not to worry about the absence of no-trade protection in his contract. David Sloane, who represented Carlos Delgado when he was negotiating the slugger’s contract with the Marlins in 2005, said Delgado expressed concern about not having the ability to block trades, a feature many star free agents receive when they sign new deals.

According to Sloane, Loria told Delgado: “If you play like you have in the past and I trade you, the fans will hang me in front of the stadium.

Delgado, who ultimately signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the Marlins, had a standout season and finished sixth in National League Most Valuable Player voting. But he was traded to the New York Mets after one season.

“He wasn’t happy about it, Sloane said.

you don't need to know his real estate agent to know where he lives. you just have to look for the one house in South Florida made entirely of 24k gold

Someone's already said it but I'll say it again, this thread is the epitome of why Marlins' fans keep getting screwed. They lash out at people who lash out at the incompetent FO.

But one has the wonder the motive behind this. My idea is that it's hurtfullness being shown in the form of anger at the wrong person or persons.

Seriously though.

Like everything else he puts his money into, he's technically only leasing the place to please me mindful of the infrastructure and walls.

Yes. He's been there for years and was criticized for years.

Beinfest has a World Series. I guess he's pretty awesome too?

What's the harm? He comes to MB.com and sees it and calls the police? Not like I threatened him personally (although admittedly I did use his words against him).

More of some moron taking the address and acting out- plenty of instances of the crazy just needing the info to go crazier.

An example was when Spike Lee put out Zimmermans address.
