2013-2014 Florida Panthers/NHL Thread

He could shout crazy nonsense from the top of his lungs while in net for all I care, as long as he stops pucks. Glad to have him.

The New York Post (yes, I know) came out today saying the Panthers are as good as sold, to an unnamed New York buyer(s).

A buyer for the money-losing Florida Panthers has been found and a deal should be announced within the next few weeks, two sources close to the situation said.

“It’s imminent, one of the sources said.

The buyers are from New York, though their identities could not be immediately confirmed.

Yeah, I heard. I'm apprehensive. "from New York". That raises the chances that the new owners could be looking to move the team at some point in the future. Nobody from "South Florida" could buy the team? Hopefully my concerns are all for not.

Our lease with the arena is pretty strict and still has 15 or so odd years left on it. We aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Plus Bettman would fight like crazy to keep us here.

I highly doubt they would have allowed the sale of the team with the intent to move. Being from New York is practically like being from Florida.

Apparently the buyer is Vincent Viola who was the former head of the New York Mercantile Exchange. I hope he has some money to spend.

Just in case anyone is wondering I got a stream from HF Boards for tonight's game:

nhl.com has a stream. click video, select press room channel from selectr, then scroll down and click grey *test* button

Here are the lines as I see it playing out now...and yes some guys are out of position.

Fleischmann-Matthias-Huberdeau

Kopecky-Barkov-Versteeg

Bergenheim-Goc-Boyes

Shore-Gomez-Upshall

Trocheck and Crabb extra forwards.

Gudbranson

Weaver

Campbell

Petrovic

Kulikov

Gilbert

Extra defenseman

Markstrom

Thomas

Thoughts?

I like that they gave Gilbert a PTO. Not bad for a guy with some upside offensively.

Rather have him than Gilroy

Surprised Trocheck was sent down before Howden. Guess its a position thing. I also thought Mottau would make it over Gilroy.

Can Bergenheim please fucking play already?

Do guys like Mottau EVER make it over the 'vet' Gilroy though?

It's like... why does Jovo get a contract?

And Trocheck makes sense being sent down. Howden has experience in the AHL already. Trocheck is in no rush. Howden, theoretically, should be more NHL ready. Even if it's not the case, I think it's better to not bring Trocheck up here and make him play bitch minutes when he could be playing top minutes in the AHL.

Aaaaand a quick fact check there shows that Mike Mottau actually has 100 more games than Matt Gilroy. That was surprising to see.

Every time I come on this thread (by mistake usually; I don't watch Hockey) I basically see this: "Wow, we just signed kerngkinergnrb. I can't believe we had to trade knfgjionrkikfrjk to get jkeefjbnje though...." And then I leave.
