June 17, 201412 yr Fuck me. Started off good. 3-0 into the 6th, then Koehler imploded again. Then we tie it and then disappear with RISP. Redmond is a terrible fucking manager. Hatcher has been pitching great, let's take him out for Mike Dunn cause power-threat Chris Coghlan is coming up. Dunn gives up a single to a lefty next inning [not surprised], oh look a right handed batter is coming up, bring in Ramos to face him even though there's a power lefty on deck! Brought in Cishek, good move, made sense. But he only went one inning even though the 9th was short. AND THEN THERE'S THE FACT THAT HE TAKES OUT MARCELL OZUNA FOR ED LUCAS! Let's leave Hechavarria in there, even though he's been a black hole offensively and was the final out of the 12th. Let's take out one of the better outfielders defensively in baseball right now (may or may not be true). IMMEDIATELY comes back to cost us. If Ozuna is in left on that Travis Wood hit, Lake doesn't score. Fuck you, Michael Patrick Redmond, you're a piece of shit manager.
June 17, 201412 yr Copying this right from the game thread: "And that single game, ladies and gentlemen, encapsulated almost every problem that the 2014 Miami Marlins team has, starting with their hapless leader, Michael Patrick Redmond."
June 17, 201412 yr But really, Bullpen did a great job. Morris is a superstar. Turner will never be worth anything in a mlb uniform. We probably should have won that game, but we lost.
June 17, 201412 yr So I think after tonight, Garret Jones OPS is close if now lower than Dietrich's in mlb this year. Jones's grades out worst than DD defenisvely with Jones at an easier position to play that has a higher base for offensive production. Dietrich is in the minors for defensive reasons.
June 17, 201412 yr If there were a WPA-like stat for managers, is there any doubt that Redmond would be last in the universe?
June 17, 201412 yr btw Marisnick did not look like garbage at least. I'd like his value to add the speed at closed game.
June 17, 201412 yr Why don't we do good in extras. It is infuriating. I don't know what our record in extras is, but I don't think it's bad. Didn't they say in the telecast that we were like 9-2 when tied in the 9th inning or something like that?

June 17, 201412 yr Hechavarria and Mathis..... The rummy with the concussion and Dietrich, oh how I miss them.
June 17, 201412 yr To have to rely on Hech or Mathis to win a game is asking too much. Still too much deadwood on this team, and it shows itself in games like this.
June 17, 201412 yr Most of the blame should definitely go to Koehler. After, that we had 3 chances to win the game if I recall. But in all honesty, I think I should stop watching the games. After Turner got 2-outs on 4 pitches I was on hands and knees begging the gods to help him get through the inning and not fall apart with 2-outs again. What Turner just did he has done countless times and that, not the loss, is what infuriates me the most.
June 17, 201412 yr Redmond gave a sarcastic laugh when asked about Turner after the game. Seemed to be in disbelief that he gave up a hit to the pitcher. I think that Turner is gone once Gregg is ready.

June 17, 201412 yr No, most of the blame is to our shit manager. He is the least aggressive manager I have ever seen. Everything he does is by the books. By the looks of it he's either having an affair with Baker and Mathis and he's trying to earn some brownie points or he has no idea what the fuck he's doing. We had McGhee at first with no outs and instead of bunting with Jones he lets him strike out. By the way Ozuna came up later and hit a single to left center (walk off right there). I'm sick of this guy.

I'm sick of this guy. Realistically ... if they bunt with Jones [not a good bunter] and it's successful, they walk Ozuna. They don't even think ONCE about it. They just do it. Think about who is after him. Adeiny Hechavarria, a -2.2 WAR since 2013 started.

Think about who is after him. Adeiny Hechavarria, a -2.2 WAR since 2013 started. And that's the problem. Why couldn't they pinch hit for Hechavarria. The guy sucks. They couldn't put in Alvarez or disco to hit? Lucas would have just taken short later. And taking out ozuna any way was stupid. Yet another atrocious game.

June 17, 201412 yr Author That still would have been more productive than what ended up happening. You mean, instead of first and second where Jones struck out and Hech didn't come through, it would have been more productive to have first and second where Jones bunted and Hech still doesn't come through? Really? Come on.
June 17, 201412 yr Not really all that big a deal. Koehler stunk up the place after pitching 5 perfect innings. The marlins had several opportunities to score the winning run but apparently nobody besides McGegee can step up with RISP. I would like to blame turner as much as the next guy but 7 scoreless innings out of the bullpen is quite impressive and is something to be happy about.
