August 1, 201412 yr I think the part where Mathis twice looks down to check his feet is also key here. Between that and how he applied the tag... It's like if Mathis was quite aware of rule 7.13.FuckOff and did everything he could to respect that rule yet still gets screwed over for it ! Such crap.
August 1, 201412 yr Admin is there a way to post an image with a URL? I screen captured where Mathis was standing before the throw. It's pretty clear cut evidence.

August 1, 201412 yr Author Oh, I see what it is now. He was blocking the runner at first from going directly from first to home. Silly us.
August 1, 201412 yr Here's 7.13 again. “Unless the catcher is in possession of the ball, the catcher cannot block the pathway of the runner as he is attempting to score. If, in the judgment of the Umpire, the catcher, without possession of the ball, blocks the pathway of the runner, the Umpire shall call or signal the runner safe. I dare any motherfuckers to tell me that Mathis is blocking that dude's pathway.
August 1, 201412 yr Also, pretty great fangraphs article from June on 7.13 (spoiler we are used as examples) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/rule-7-13-protecting-catchers-hurting-the-game/
August 1, 201412 yr Someone should make a gif of the whole play ie where mathis started and where he ended up to field the throw
August 1, 201412 yr Gracias Need to get the beat writers to retweet it! I haven't really seen that angle anywhere else and it's only on the marlins broadcast
August 1, 201412 yr It doesn't even matter if Mathis was blocking the plate or not (which he wasn't). The throw beat the runner by 10 feet!!!
August 1, 201412 yr Need to get the beat writers to retweet it! I haven't really seen that angle anywhere else and it's only on the marlins broadcast I know, I had no room to @ any of them on it sadly
August 1, 201412 yr It doesn't even matter if Mathis was blocking the plate or not (which he wasn't). The throw beat the runner by 10 feet!!! It does matter per the rule which was horribly misinterpreted here.
August 1, 201412 yr Like I'm pretty sure the rule doesn't explicitly say anything about the white line and is more an ambiguous "blocking the plate" type statement, correct?
August 1, 201412 yr y'all so smart How are the Marlins not allowed to demand Joe Torre look at that image and respond to it.
August 1, 201412 yr I know, I had no room to @ any of them on it sadly I just tagged a bunch of them lol
August 1, 201412 yr Frisaro blocked me but hopefully juan picks it up (he's responded to me in the past). I'm just mind boggled by what those stupid ass new yorkers saw?
August 1, 201412 yr Author Frisaro blocked me but hopefully juan picks it up (he's responded to me in the past). I'm just mind boggled by what those stupid ass new yorkers saw? Why did Frisaro block you? :lol Asking cause he blocked me, too.
August 1, 201412 yr Why did Frisaro block you? :lol Asking cause he blocked me, too. Mentioned WAR or something like that
August 1, 201412 yr Haven't had much time to chime in but this rule was BS when I first heard in spring training and it has been confirmed as such. I believe online petition should be sent to MLB DEMANDING it be struck as it is counterproductive to the game and is an assault on the integrity of the sport. Does anyone know of a good way to do it?
August 1, 201412 yr You guys ready to get livid all over again? I have a screenshot of the reds throw coming
