April 15, 201511 yr Pudge>Ass-Clown... how much longer is that .091 hitter gonna take ABs away from someone who can bat at least .200? He provides absolutely no substance. Not even a productive ground ball to move the runner to third. Serious issues. All the batting practice and spring training in the world, a "professional" should be able to hit a fastball down the middle.

April 15, 201511 yr To be fair, Stanton couldn't hit a fastball down the middle until today. My issue with stanton (and not so much so far thank god) is him chasing pitches way out of the zone. With him though if he swings at anything down the middle at least he seems to have some sort of authority. Salty is like literally a breeze.....then the ball finally comes in. Its hard to explain the difference, at least coming from my eyes.
April 15, 201511 yr Salty just isn't making contact. Period. He is late on a lot of pitches. He either fouls it the other way or a lot of his strikes outs are foul tips. They are challenging him and he is failing again and again. Last year he hit .300 in April. Then fell off after that. If his defense was good enough to tolerate this crap then that would be one thing but it isn't.
April 15, 201511 yr It's just a long, lethargic-looking swing. I know what you mean. Yup, correct. Take a good look at realmuto tomorrow. If he makes contact in three of his at bats, what will that tell you about what this team needs to do. If he strikes out 4 times, then i dont know what to say.

After fridays game, apparently you need to score a billion to feel safe.

April 15, 201511 yr Two with bases loaded, right? Yeah, he's wonderful, can't wait til heckle him this weekend.
April 15, 201511 yr Y'now what? I really really like Koehler. Someone said it above, but he seems like such a cool dude outside of baseball, and inside the game he keeps his emotions in. One of my favorite players in recent memory

One of my favorite players in recent memory Yeah man he's from a great family. When he makes starts against the Mets he's always got like 30 + friends and family. A friend of a friend is good friends with his sister and I got to meet the family and TKFresh, super cool laid back guy.
April 15, 201511 yr Someone posted this in http://www.reddit.com/r/letsgofish/comments/32maiy/stantons_facemask/ Click the picture and I do have to wonder if that mask affects his swing accuracy/peripheral vision. He finally took it off in the 8th!
April 15, 201511 yr What's up Vince!! Salty is our guy this year. yup! sad to say, however. he is just an offensive rally vacuum. if he can end april batting .220 id be totally happy with that at this point.
April 15, 201511 yr Hate to go on another "baseball's broken" diatribe but The situation with Salty epitomizes what's wrong with the game today. Plenty of teams make mistakes, bad ones, in Free Agency. But when the Red Sox, Yankees and Angels of the world make them, they have the financial wherewithal to absorb the hit of dumping the bad contract and turning the page. A financially strapped team like the Marlins are stuck for years with the albatross of a contract around their proverbial necks and dont have the free money to pursue other players. I dont see a solution on the horizon. Especially not with low salary teams like the Royals, Rays and As making the playoffs on a semi-regular basis.
April 15, 201511 yr Low budget teams just gotta put in the resources to make smarter moves. Overall, we've seen that happen quite a bit.
