May 12, 201511 yr And his fastball velocity has come back but he's just not the same guy. Doesn't make sense. How good would Francisco Rodriguez look right now. So what is that? Our 10th blown save?
May 12, 201511 yr And if you're going to talk sh*t about him, some of you people should at least spell his friggin name right. Makes you sound like a damn moron when you spend so much effort hating on somebody and can't even remember how to spell there their name. hmmm... Just saying

May 12, 201511 yr Be careful what you wish for guys. Our manager is Mike Redmond. We may very well end up with Nick Masset at closer.
May 12, 201511 yr Wow some of the posts in this thread are unreal. I've said this before but these games really bring out the worst kinds of fans. Again, I'm on the boat of moving Cishek out of the closer spot too. I'm not arguing he sucks right now. But calling him a scrub and calling him Dontrelle Willis 2.0 (whatever the hell that even means) is just insulting to the man. This situation is just quicksand. Things go wrong and his confidence is shot. He doesn't believe in his pitches anymore and bad sh*t gets worse and worse. Like Hotcorner has said Cishek needs to be taken out of the bullpen for a good week or two. Give him time to clear his head, figure things out, whatever. Then in two weeks time put him back in as a 6th/7th inning guy or even just mop up duty for the time being. Let him start getting some outs, build up his confidence. If he eventually earns it back sometime down the line, THEN we can try him again as a closer. But the important thing is getting Cishek right again. Unfortunately that probably can't be done in the 9th inning for quite some time.

Cishek dominated had a funky delivery and now he is losing it. Get it? It's not an insult it's a comparison, learn the difference. Sheesh
May 12, 201511 yr I also worry about Ramos' control issues. I would have gone to Ramos once Ether got on. It may have been a quick trigger but to let Cishek blow it again is worse.
May 12, 201511 yr Yeah, except Dontrelle didn't lose it because of his delivery. He had complex psychological issues that affected his pitching. You don't think Shrek has issues? He looks scared as hell out there
May 12, 201511 yr But his delivery wasn't the reason for his success. His pure stuff is really good and his placement of pitches was phenomenal. Dontrelle lost it because he couldn't find the strike zone. Cishek isn't giving up a huge number walks, he just doesn't have the pitch placement or pure stuff that he's shown in the past. There situations are in absolutely no way comparable. Mildly strange deliveries doesn't make there situations at all similar. I don't think bringing Dontrelle's name into the conversation is warranted in the least. Cishek has the ability to start getting hitters out again. Dontrelle never had the ability since he couldn't find a strike zone.

Ok fine he needs to take a break from closing. 10 TIMES dude pack your bags and take a nice trip to AA cause there is no way that we can allow a closing pitcher to stop us from going the distance.

Thank you 100% for bringing this up. I've been a big proponent of Ramos as an 8th inning guy for a long time before he even reached the majors and love his pure stuff, but the control is a big issue. While Cishek needs time away, Ramos has his own issues that at some point whenever will come to light. Don't get me wrong Ramos is the right guy for the job right now, but long term he works best as an 8th inning guy when he usually has some leeway to work with, not a 9th inning guy generally coming into 1 run game situations.
May 12, 201511 yr Good night everyone. Done is done. Shit happened sometimes. And sometimes it goes on.
May 12, 201511 yr the marlins have blown leads in 11 out of their 18 losses this season. that means we could easily be 26-7 and leading the entire majors.
May 12, 201511 yr Wow...yeah, it sucks and I hope he finds his groove again, but he can't be closing games out anymore. Ramos or Morris as closer?
May 12, 201511 yr I can't begin to tell you what Shrek's deal is. Not only does he lack control of his fastball, but it is 4-6 mph slower than last year. Also, his slider (which is what made him successful as a closer) is either flat or wild every time. It's embarrassing to watch. Wonder if he is hurt?

Also, his slider (which is what made him successful as a closer) is either flat or wild every time. It's embarrassing to watch. He hit 92 tonight and he is normally 91-94 so its mostly location and not refining his changeup while relying way too much on the slider.

Ok fine he needs to take a break from closing. 10 TIMES dude pack your bags and take a nice trip to AA cause there is no way that we can allow a closing pitcher to stop us from going the distance. Cishek's career consists of 268 2/3 IP. This is 11 innings of his whole body of work. You are reacting to the situation, which is fine, but also wrong. He needs time away and in a different role, but everyone calling for him to head to AA need to look at the guys who are actually in relief roles in the minors, and you'll see really quickly they aren't of the caliber of Cishek when he is on his game. This whole situation just needs time. Cishek needs days off, time to clear his head. Come back in a roles where there are big leads or whatever and give him space to work out his issues. I don't know why I'm the crazy person here for saying a month doesn't negate three years.
