If this team's losses lead to Jennings and Hill getting fired, it was worth it.

The problem is that Loria has a terrible eye for hiring people in leadership positions. Most of his managerial decisions have been idiotic and he basically replaced Beinfest with his right hand men. He's not going to bring in a GM that you and I like.

Does that include removing himself and/or Samson?

Forgot about Samson. Fire him too.

Two questions...

If the team continues being this bad does he take Jennings out before seasons end? Because I was pretty certain Jennings would be here all season even if they struggled.

Also, and I'm probably asking Admin and other more logical people instead of whoever is gonna tell me trade Stanton and Yelich, what realistic changes can be made on the on-field side of things? There isn't much to sell off, if anything, and this team was kinda constructed to be kept intact even if we scuffled. I see it as being built "anti-fire sale"... so what changes?

Unfortunately, you're probably right.

I wonder if there would be any change in direction if they promoted some of the guys they hired this offseason from other organizations. I believe Mike Berger was recently promoted after Jennings was made manager.

Jeff McAvoy and Craig Weissman came from savvy organizations, for what it's worth.

Well the business side isnt exactly doing wonderful in Miami from what I hear....

Because we suck. We win, we improve consistently and business will increase. There was a clear sense of that this offseason after signing Stanton and other positive moves.

Does Samson actually do anything though?

I've read recently that Samson is sharing GM duties.

That's a fantastic question.

I don't know exactly what they would be able to do in order to rebuild this team.

They would have to trade Ozuna for sure, really only piece of the starting lineup they can/should trade I guess.  Prado is old and showing his age, Morse is shitty.  You should probably keep Gordon and Hech.  You cant move Yelich and Stanton.  Realmuto should develop into at least a league average catcher.

For starters, I'd trade Ozuna for pitching.

At this point, I think its more then the wins/losses.

Yes and no. Fans like us hate the front office and are upset about more than wins and losses. Casual fans, who make up more of the fanbase than we care to admit, they'll bitch about Loria and Co. because it's the trendy thing, but if we're a contender they'll come to the ballpark happily because it's also the trendy thing to do.

I wish he would with Samson just being his step son from his previous marriage. Berger I believe came from Tampa Bay?

Also you said you would trade Ozuna for pitching. Put Ichiro in CF? Curious to know what kinda package you looking for on that.

First candidates for a trade that come to my mind are Ozuna and Morse. If we can get anyone to take Morse and his massive contract while he is struggling. Hand should also be included in any trade as a throw in.

Definitely agree, Ozuna turning down that extension earlier probably points to him not wanting to be here, unless they win obviously. but who replaces him? It's easy to say Ichiro, but that leaves two very weak arms in the OF.

Eh, to be fair, Ozuna turned down the extension because he's a Boras client, has nothing to do with him not wanting to be here.

Yeah definitely cause of Boras, although at this point he probably doesnt want to be here ethier

Exactly. He was also quoted on wanting to see how this season played out to weigh his decision further. Boras was going to push for him to wait until free agency anyways. You can also say the same about Jose Fernandez.

Ozuna. But I'd be against it if they pkgd him with Morse. Think we'd lose too much value. Unless they were throwing in money to cover Morse's salary

Thank goodness they did a 2 year and not a 3 year contract that Morse was originally seeking. I could see a Morse, Hand, and someone else going in a move.

I was sort of/not really surprised Jose didn't sign even though he's a Boras client. If the rumors were true about the years & dollars, that was a hell of a deal by a dude coming off TJ

Yeah it was. But I am sure if they add another $5 - 8 million he more than likely accepts. Only Boras client that comes to mind that did pre-arb was CarGo
