Our other option, as bad as he is offensively, is just as good defensively and as hard as it is to believe is better offensively at this point. There was no need to rush Realmuto to the majors at this point other than we needed a catcher because yet again Loria butted in and needed to sign the world series winning Salty, who turned out to suck. Id have no problem with Mathis hitting 8th everyday, Solano or whoever as our backup playing 1 or 2 times a week, and Realmuto developing his bat more in the minors. Its been a fairly representative sample size at this point and Realmuto has a .580 OPS. He was never ready for the big leagues this season.
June 2, 201511 yr Author I'd send down Ozuna, Realmuto, Cishek for the time being. Bring up Wittgren, Valdespin/Dietrich/who cares, and activate Mathis. Go with Gordon, Yelich, Stanton, Bour/Baker/ Prado, Ichiro, Hech, Mathis and let Ozuna find himself in New Orleans for a few weeks, let Realmuto develop more down there for at least a month.
June 2, 201511 yr I have come to the official conclusion that aside from monster home runs, i do not see what the big deal is about stanton. Hate to say it, but the strikeouts are far too much outweighing the positive. AS OF NOW, the contract is a huge mistake.

AS OF NOW, the contract is a huge mistake. nobody can live up to the contract. don't worry about that when evaluating him. he is fine, he hasn't been great this year, but he isn't close to the problem. the problem, more than any individual player, is the philosophy of the front office and the way they put together the lineup year in and year out.
