June 2, 201511 yr nobody can live up to the contract. don't worry about that when evaluating him. he is fine, he hasn't been great this year, but he isn't close to the problem. the problem, more than any individual player, is the philosophy of the front office and the way they put together the lineup year in and year out. I can agree with this.

June 2, 201511 yr He's arguably the best defensive RF in MLB, so that's something to take into account as well. Statistics back you up here! Heyward is still probably better than Stanton defensively despite a rough start to the year, but this season only Gregory Polanco and Ender Inciarte grade out as better defenders than Giancarlo, and those two dudes can't hold a toothpick next to Stanton's bat.

June 2, 201511 yr I have come to the official conclusion that aside from monster home runs, i do not see what the big deal is about stanton. Hate to say it, but the strikeouts are far too much outweighing the positive. AS OF NOW, the contract is a huge mistake. Again, you have just judged a 13 year contract on a 2 month stretch. Last years production should be closer to what we should expect from Stanton who has not even entered his prime yet. Also, he had a vicious injury to his face with a fastball last year. With all of that said he still has 15 home runs and leads the league in RBI's. With all due respect, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, I have come to the conclusion that you are bad at evaluating baseball players and baseball talent. You're the type of guy that roots for the underdog at all costs but hates on the superstars because they don't come through every time up. This isn't even an advance metrics thing because you are ignoring age old results based (counting) stats like HR and RBI's.
