Good call FanGraphs

Also this:

Even if you’re higher on Gordon than the projections, his upside is clearly limited, and the Marlins had pieces to get by at the position.

And now I’ll remind you this wasn’t cheap. Enrique Hernandez for Dee Gordon, straight up, would’ve been okay for the Marlins. Not awesome; just okay

Wait wait wait... I wanna make this clear... FanGraphs said before the season started that Gordon wouldn't do much, that we had enough pieces to fill his role, and that Kike Hernandez is just as good as Dee? Or am I reading that wrong?

To be fair, the article was written by a single writer on Fangraphs (who I have never heard of) and doesn't necessarily imply the opinions of the entire website:

Most people thought we overpaid for Gordon, not just fangraphs. And, quite frankly, we did give up a good amount, but obviously I don't mind. It's nice to have Dee on the team, and I supported him throughout the year when Spike was hating. That makes me not a nerd.

Definitely traded low on Hernandez. 24 years old posting a .830+ OPS and hitting almost as well as Gordon. Dee obviously brings the advantage out in the field and on the base paths, but I understand mostly what the writer is trying to say.

I think the issue is that the Marlins highly underrated Hernandez and didn't see him as a core part of the future when they should've. Many on this board and forum were calling for to be traded due to poor performance in only 40 AB's with the major league squad. It's interesting that both Heaney and Hernandez were both traded when their value was low and we traded for Gordon when his value was sky high. It's worked out well enough for us that we shouldn't cry over it, but there's a reason Andrew Friedman is who he is and why Dan Jennings is likely out of a job soon. Just completely different levels when it comes to their abilities to evaluate players.

ALL posted after the season began, doesn't really count after seeing him do well does it?

Plus, it doesn't matter if it was one writer, they still had it on their site so its their credibility that takes a hit IMO.

For example, lets say that David Marcillo guy posts a story on the website he works for and its outrageous -- their reputation is at stake too. So no matter who wrote this, its FanGraphs who had the content and allowed it to exist.

Also, I i referenced two stories in my opening post.

Absolutely ludicrous to think Kike and Dee are on the same level no matter what their HJHSIUW+ or JQO is.

Heaney for Gordon then, let's say that's the trade because to me Rojas and the pieces for Haren wipe out the rest we sent to LA.

either way you slice it, Marlins got taken to the woodshed in that deal.  and I never do a young projectionable starter for a hitter who has no power.

most of it due to the cheapness of this organization making teams send money when acquiring players.
