Posted November 3, 20159 yr Black was “deeply offended” by Washington’s first offer, and things never got on track The offer was actually for one year and $1.6MM Washington “will offer” Baker the job, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com now reports. The organization was “leaning toward” the veteran manager this weekend http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/nationals-manager-dusty-baker-bud-black-unresolved.html
November 3, 20159 yr WTF? Maybe Bud Black shouldn't have been so arrogant about where he was gonna end up next. I hope he doesn't mind managing a fantasy team from his couch.
November 3, 20159 yr LOL should've taken the Marlins gig, bruh Yeah, I don't think the Marlins would have lowballed him money-wise either. Its actually pretty surprising that the Nationals, a team not exactly financially strapped, would offer such a well respected manager such a low offer, if that one year 1.6 is true.
November 3, 20159 yr are the Mariners manager position still open? he could end up in Seattle. How about being our pitching coach?
November 3, 20159 yr Dusty Baker is now the official manager of the Nationals. They offered him 1 year initially to Bud Black, the heck? Only then did they come back with a 2 year offer. Usually you give a manager 3 years, don't you? FWIW we still have an opening at Pitching coach, lol.
November 3, 20159 yr The Nationals are idiots. Why would you offer a respected manager 1 year or even 2 years? Joke. Much like their organization. Bryce Harper cant get the fuck out of there fast enough.
November 3, 20159 yr The fish would've been BLASTED if they made an offer like that And I'm proud to say they wouldn't have. For better or worse, the Marlins don't lowball "names."
November 3, 20159 yr And I'm proud to say they wouldn't have. For better or worse, the Marlins don't lowball "names." ya they pay them a lot of good money for a year or two of managing work and a year or two of sitting on a beach somewhere.
November 3, 20159 yr The Nationals are idiots. Why would you offer a respected manager 1 year or even 2 years? Joke. Much like their organization. Bryce Harper cant get the fuck out of there fast enough. Very true. Dusty Baker just really wouldn't the job and he was the fall back option.
November 3, 20159 yr ya they pay them a lot of good money for a year or two of managing work and a year or two of sitting on a beach somewhere. I said "for better or worse"... what happens after the offer is irrelevant to my point.
November 3, 20159 yr Very true. Dusty Baker just really wouldn't the job and he was the fall back option. If Baker wasnt beyond desperate to manage again, he'd tell them to fuck off also.
November 3, 20159 yr Well, gotta wonder... what's the relationship between Black (Bud) and Mattingly? Even the slightest chance he could be our next pitching coach?
November 3, 20159 yr Cause of contract money, named manager has just changed thru 1 or 2 days. It looked so improvised.
November 3, 20159 yr As a Nats fan (possibly even as a player) I'd be a little concerned that Dusty was clearly the consolation choice here.
November 3, 20159 yr LOL should've taken the Marlins gig, bruh Honestly, I bet he does regret it right now. Dumpster fire or not, worst case scenario for him is that at some point the Marlins would be paying him a lot of money not to manage.
November 3, 20159 yr And I'm proud to say they wouldn't have. For better or worse, the Marlins don't lowball "names." The really ironic thing about the Marlins is that while Loria is incredibly cheap overall, he likes to spend boatloads of money on things that are either not super important or not important at all.
November 3, 20159 yr The really ironic thing about the Marlins is that while Loria is incredibly cheap overall, he likes to spend boatloads of money on things that are either not super important or not important at all. Yep. It's like I imagine that, for being a millionaire, Loria probably lives in a pretty shitty house... but with an amazing high priced doorbell.
November 3, 20159 yr Maybe the fact that Loria uses a flip phone says a lot about what he spends his money on. Anyway, if Black isn't managing anywhere this season, he fucked up big time and he knows it.

November 3, 20159 yr If Baker wasnt beyond desperate to manage again, he'd tell them to fuck off also. Yeah 2 years doesn't exactly give him the security he is looking for.
