November 8, 201510 yr Just imagine that Marlins won the Park's bidding and paid $12.85MM posting fee. For a korean righty 1st baseman... If they did it, I would be surprised.
November 8, 201510 yr when i was a kid it was all about the 89 Upper Deck Griffey Jr. rookie. #1 KG did you ever have it?
November 8, 201510 yr I ain't saying nuthin Your source is probably telling you the Marlins are going to go after him, but in reality the Marlins will be one of the lowest bidders and it will never happen.
November 8, 201510 yr when i was a kid it was all about the 89 Upper Deck Griffey Jr. rookie. i also have a few mcgwire olympic rookies and cal ripken rookies.... wish i unloaded mcgwires before he got busted

November 8, 201510 yr My honest guess is that if the Marlins did place a bid, they didn't throw a low one. Why? They know it's a bidding war so if they wanna be cheap and save money they just wouldn't have bid at all... a valid option in itself. So if they're gonna spend money on the bid then why not try to win it?
November 8, 201510 yr My favorite baseball card is 1989 topps number 500 Jose canseco. Also likes stantons rookie card. Mine were Topps '90 frank Thomas error card along with upper deck '90 5000 strikeout tribute to Nolan Ryan. Upper deck usually had better values.
November 8, 201510 yr #1 KG did you ever have it? i still do sir. it's not "worth" a ton as it seemed to be back then but I do have it in a nice case amidst some other Jr. memorabilia - like a lot of kids, "The Kid" was a fan favorite no matter which team you bled for. I have most of my cards and other collectibles proudly displayed in a case in my office. Plenty of Denny's holograms to go around too! A fond card collecting memory for me was frantically trying to find one of the Ted Williams signatures in the Upper Deck series from '93 (i think it was '93 anyway). Never did find one but i did manage to gather a full set of cards in the process at least.

I am more of a base set topps guy but I do know everyone scampered with upper deck released their set with Griffey. I truly wish I grew up in the late 80s as I was only 3 in 1989
November 8, 201510 yr Teams that are confirmed to have not posted the winning bid so far per various national writers: Cardinals, Red Sox, Rangers, A's, Orioles, Padres, Blue Jays, Indians, Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, Angels
November 8, 201510 yr Assuming that not every team put in a bid, that's a heck of a lot of teams.... And the Marlins aren't listed.

I truly wish I grew up in the late 80s as I was only 3 in 1989 1990 Bowman has to be one of the ugliest designs ever for the record. Not sure if you're familiar with those but the whole set was only "worth" something like $8.

November 9, 201510 yr I feel like all the other teams that haven't been discounted yet have a better chance than us. Do we even scout in Asia?
November 9, 201510 yr FWIW DelPiano scouted Park. Not sure if that was mentioned here yet That's the reason we even have a shot to be involved. Loria is (at least at the moment) listening to DelPiano who is in favor of spending money internationally...and he scouted Park. Seems like the kind of (relatively) low cost gamble we should be taking.
November 9, 201510 yr In this weekend some korean mlb community has collected all tweet about Park's bidding. They said these are finalists : Twins, White Sox, Astros, Marlins, Bucs, Brewers.
November 9, 201510 yr Whether we have a shot or not... thrilled to hear DelPiano did the scouting here. If it was Samson I'd say he was scouting Park because he thought that's where teams go to get naming rights for their own Parks.
November 9, 201510 yr I'm not getting my hopes up for a pretty good gamble. You aren't doing this to me again, Marlins. The best player I expect is Doug Fister.
November 9, 201510 yr Author Sliver.. you really thought I was asking such a dumb question at first? I've had a funny feeling about Park for a few days. Delpiano was the reason why.
