June 12, 201610 yr at Pulse nightclub which is apparently a gay bar. Last report was at least 50 dead and still 50+ in hospital. Worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Shooter was identified as Omar Mateen, Port St. Lucie resident. Seems to be the only shooter.
June 12, 201610 yr This hits too close to home. Don't know if I know any of the victims yet or not. I've been there, before. I know the building. I can't unsee these horrific scenes in my imagination. I know the security flaw of this building. It's almost like I know how that monster did it. The door that is locked. That people probably helplessly were slaughtered by. What am I to do or say? Very numb.
June 12, 201610 yr When all of the facts come out, I highly doubt this will be a blatant gun control problem. But the left will make it one to mask the fact that this is Islamic terrorism. But another example of the gun control problem that exists in this nation that nobody wants to actually look into, other than to say, just go fucking arm yourself.
June 12, 201610 yr It sounds like a bunch of planning went into this. I don't think that any gun control measures we would realistically implement would stop someone from doing this. Like I would be surprised if this guy acquired the gun legally. I'm sure he obtained the gun legally. It's not like its that difficult to do so.
June 12, 201610 yr When are we going to have an honest conversation in this country about Muslim control?
June 12, 201610 yr When are we going to have an honest conversation in this country about Muslim control? Maybe after a certain crowd squeezes every once of political motivation out of the gun control and after the terrorist decided to start with the bombings.
June 12, 201610 yr Author I'm sure he obtained the gun legally. It's not like its that difficult to do so. yeah I don't know why that would be an obstacle, he didn't appear to have a criminal record.
June 12, 201610 yr yeah I don't know why that would be an obstacle, he didn't appear to have a criminal record. And they are reporting he was a security guard. Not sure if at that club or elsewhere.
June 12, 201610 yr Author When are we going to have an honest conversation in this country about Muslim control? how would that even go? "All U.S. citizens who are also Muslim are now on 24/7 mass surveillance. If you leave hate comments on a message board, you're out. If not, you can stay but you need to overhaul the religion that a quarter of the globe practices or convert to something else." I mean is that a start? I'm genuinely curious. Aren't libertarians generally terrified of an authoritarian orwellian mass surveillance government? Because it seems like that's what would be involved.
June 12, 201610 yr The Muslim problem really only exists because we insist on being intimately involved in their region in the Middle East. If we were not no involved there, this 'problem' wouldnt be nearly as severe.

Not negating what your saying because I'm honestly unaware and don't have time to look but were we involved in the Middle East during 9/11. Desert storm was well over then wasn't it.

Aren't libertarians generally terrified of an authoritarian orwellian mass surveillance government? Because it seems like that's what would be involved. it was a tongue in cheek comment, which is about as ridiculous to me as gun control. Of course we can't engage in mass surveillance, but it would be nice if people acknowledged that the vast majority of terrorist attacks against the United States are undertaken by Muslims. Maybe then we can have a real conversation about how to stop it. What you mentioned in a later post about getting out of the middle east is a good start, but we can't begin to discuss it if we can't even mention the fact that these attacks are religiously charged.

Desert storm was well over then wasn't it. We have been intimately involved in the Middle East since at least the 70s. 9/11 was a response really to Desert Storm. Bin Laden had been doing minor attacks for years and had never really succeeded on a grand level until 9/11.
June 12, 201610 yr The Muslim problem really only exists because we insist on being intimately involved in their region in the Middle East. If we were not no involved there, this 'problem' wouldnt be nearly as severe. But you agree that it would still be a problem, right? Leaving the middle east is a good start, but it doesn't change who people are. This appears to be an act of homophobia. Why do you think this guy was homophobic?

Why do you think this guy was homophobic? I guess it would be a problem just like Christian terrorism is. Facts are we have tried to westernize the Middle East. We brought upon them a way of life they do not want. What the fuck does anyone think they would do in response? Lay down and take it? Human history says there is no fucking chance this happens. If it wasnt largely for USA arming of many terrorists in the first place.....

I don't think any of these subjects are unreasonable to talk about. Such a brutal day. From just one ignorant motherfucker.
June 12, 201610 yr Where are the Christian terrorists? I agree with everything else you said in your post. And why was this guy homophobic? Well.. If he is Islamic... It's forbidden to be homosexual. It's punishable by death and all..... Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
June 12, 201610 yr I mean you can't deny that he's homophobic. He's both homophobic and a religious Muslim lunatic. He used his religion to justify his homophobia -- or so it seems based upon preliminary information about his swearing allegiance to ISIS, as well as his father's comments about his anger over seeing two men kiss, as well as his ex-wife's comments about his abusive and angry personality. Normally, I'm a little more interested in the details. Right now though, call it whatever you want. To me, I know the names or faces of some of these victims and people who were there. Right now I don't really give a shit about politics.
June 12, 201610 yr i dont care for homosexuals. I don't like them. however, I don't believe in the events of this morning. guy should have minded his own business. killing a mass group of people isn't going to solve anything anyway. no point in getting killed for it. let these people be. they leave you alone, you leave them alone.... but I understand this muslim peace thing is a different beast.
