I wonder if this guy was just a nut who decided he was going to do this so last-minute pledged to ISIL or whatever.  His ex-wife says he was abusive and an asshole but that he wasn’t particularly religious and showed no indication of subscribing to radical Islamism.  And she'd have every reason to pin him if he was.

I understand the concept of being able to own a gun to protect yourself. In theory that sounds good to me. But you absolutely cannot know that everyone who legally purchases a gun is doing so for self defense. I don't know what the solution is there if any as I'm more thinking out loud but fuck.

Hmm, good point. I'm no expert on any of this but can we limit the types of weapons sold? I don't think the average American buying a weapon for self defense under the second amendment is gonna argue they absolutely need an assault rifle to protect their home and their family. Forgive the racism but maybe more red flags should be raised when an Islamic American wants to purchase an assault rifle, regardless of his past history being clean.

What I don't understand is how did the FBI/CIA not see anything wrong with him purchasing weapons? He has been interviewed 3 times within the last 4 years for other events that occurred to see what he knew and if he was part of it. How was there not a giant red flag when he purchased the guns? Especially because he obtained them legally. How did that happen?

with all the crimes going on and murders and shooting, I just want to make it through life based on natural causes. its preposterous that we are discussing shootings and murders on a daily basis. those who have made it to 70 years old, dodging this BS are so lucky.  

 

 

Woke up at 6am from my sister calling to make sure I was okay. Death count was only 9. Unreal watching it go up through the day. None of my friends were there but I have friends of friends still unaccounted for...

Well I would still venture to say the likely hood of dying in a shooting are still pretty low especially compared to car transportation. Not every shooting is a targeted mass shooting type. Think of the countless gang on gang shootings that occur in your big cities and the type of murders that have occurred for years.
