Nicolino to AAA, Telis up

Featured Replies

Don't need a 5th starter right now, after the ASG we will DFA Kelly, option Telis (or someone) and bring up a SP and activate Bour

Ok.

About friggin time

Telis who was 13 for last 39 and 17 for last 52 should start at 1B vs righties and with Realmuto hitting .167 vs LHP (don't even mention Mathis to me) vs lefties at C.

He's a switch hitter who is hitting .358 vs LHP and .294 vs RHP. He's throwing out 32% of his runners.

Dudes been straight up raking. Had a .344 BA, .508 SLG in May, slugged .378 in June, hitting .304 in July. Long time coming.

You like Telis nearly as much as polly likes Paddack. Not saying you're wrong though.

Dudes 25 (just turned) and we gave up good quality pitching for him. He started his career at 17. He's playing the best baseball of his career and got snubbed for the likes of Don Kelly. I'm glad to see him finally get back here.

Regardless of it being Telis it's a smart move to send down Nicolino knowing we don't need a fifth starter for quite a bit now. Use that roster spot elsewhere and cross your fingers that when we get to that spot in the rotation again that it's for a new acquisition and not just a scrub call up.

Tells has zero power, zero speed and is a below average defender. His % of throwing out runners in the minors obviously doesn't tell the whole story. He makes a lot of contact which could translate into a decent average, but he doesn't walk much. So overall, he could serve as a back up catcher in a pinch and could pinch hit.

Nicolino is really just garbage. Its not even about fastball velocity anymore. He's been sitting 89-91 and topping at 92. His stuff is just straight up shit and his control is shit too. Control doesn't mean throwing everything down the middle. With Nicolino, you never know when he just going to go off the rails and get wrecked.

He's a switch hitting catcher with a very good approach. Yeah, he doesn't walk much but he makes solid contact enough and works counts enough to overlook it. He's a very solid bottom of the order bat should his current success translate to the majors. He's not exactly a top prospect but he's a very solid B type. We wouldn't have given up Dyson for him otherwise.

And whoever said he's a scrub, you're not smart.
