The Mets beat Don Mattingly.

Just bad things happened.

No one is bringing up Jose Reyes' night? I'm pretty sure that isn't Donnie's fault.

Kind of is. He should've never faced Phelps in the 7th.

We are a middle of 20 consecutive matches. Cannot win every single game.

Just wish to win tomorrow.

You're pushing it tonight Erick. You're blaming the whole night on one bad inning when Jose Reyes had a amazing night, Rodney gave up a bomb, our offense was asleep for most of the game, we almost came back in the ninth, etc etc. Phelps probably shouldn't have been in there but all he did was give up one run. This isn't a one man loss.

The run Phelps gave up changed the whole game though.

I KNOW, I KNOW what caused the loss...........................................Adam cut his locks.  It is the Samson scenario all over again!!

Get em tomorrow

or else

I'm with Erick.  JT incompetence  was only reason he stole third and got on first after the k. The chopper to was a bs hit on a good pitch not impressed. He never should have faced Phelps and his shitty cutter to lefties to begin with. Don's fault. He also hits women

Thing is if paddack was on the 25 man we would have won easily

No,Rodney's HR.

Regardless of what Phelps did, if Rodney gets cespedes out and doesn't hit him with that pitch, that inning ends and we go into the ninth down by one with yelich Stanton ozuna Dietrich and presumably Prado coming up. Mattingly has done plenty of stupid things but I don't think he's the cause of this loss.

Doesn't help that Stanton continues to play like the year 2013.

Phelps going back to normal, again.

He's regressing. Weird how @pollyvonwog mentions Rodney's "regression" every time he allows a run, but never says it about DP. Paddack bias? Nah never.

Admin, you're regressing.

Until polly says it, I won't believe it

Does he have to only say it once or will it be every time his point is sorta proven?

I want it said every day his point is "proven"

Rodney doesn't pitch the 9th if Phelps doesn't fuck up the 7th.

Number one, then who does? And number two, what's wrong with Rodney pitching the ninth?

Well, if Phelps doesn't allow the run in the 7th, Rodney pitches the 8th more likely than not, and Ramos the 9th. If we go extras,Barraclough the 10th (and 11th, assuming, cause Mattingly would double-switch to get two innings out of Barraclough, seems to be one of the ones he trusts with that duty).

To answer your second question, nothing.

It's a 2-2 game in the 7th and the bullpen is fresh. Why not just go with your 3 best relievers 7, 8, & 9 and lose the game that way if you're going to lose it? Barraclough/Rodney/Ramos is the way to go right now. It's been pretty clear. I even did the whole "why is Phelps in" in the game thread before Phelps fucked up. Not sure what Mattingly was thinking. Even Wittgren's been pitching better than Phelps lately.
