Article: Report: Jonathan Papelbon seeks release from Nationals

i mean he'd fit right in with the rest of the scrubs in the pen. Best part is he'll probably immediately be put in the setup role or even closer

i hope that's sarcasm when you said the pen is filled with scrubs.  the pen is still damn good and is just worn thin from being abused so much this year - still far from being a bunch of scrubs.

I'm for the signing. We are still in contention, he shores up the pen. Regardless how he's been recently he's a proven arm with lots of success.

A few months of Papelbon is better than whatever we have in the farm.

No thanks.  We don't need him choking out Yelich for not running out a ground ball or a pop up.

I think this is right too. I think our pen is mostly just overused right now.

You don't think Harper instigated that prior?

And what if Harper DID instigate that? Does that make it right for Papelbon to choke him?

Yes

I'd be shocked if the Marlins got him especially with them insisting on getting good clubhouse guys here of late. All of that would go down the drain if they signed Papelbon. I also don't think our bullpen needs him. If Ramos comes back any time soon that's really all our bullpen needs.

Well, they did bring in Cashner. He seems like a douche.

That's not nearly the same. Papelbon is a known clubhouse cancer, Cashner has never been a known clubhouse problem, he just happened to say something douchey comments pertaining to our facial hair policy and even then that doesn't mean he's a douche. But then again you may totally be just making a joke.

To be fair, Papelbon being a clubhouse cancer seems like perception. I don't want him here, but the Nationals had great things to say about him after leaving. From the staff to his teammates, many said he was a great teammate. It seems like they just let him go because he's not very good anymore.

I'm sure plenty of players get along with Papelbon but it's been basically a fact that whenever things don't go his way he creates conflict in the clubhouse. It's the same with Latos really. In a sense it's perception but there's enough evidence to say it's more than just perception.

And the nationals can say whatever they want to the media, almost all teams do that when a player leaves. it's called professionalism.
