5/4 Post Game

Can't understand the blame on the starting pitching as of RIGHT NOW. Because currently they have given us a chance to win the games wit the exception of the blow out loss last Friday. We have scored 10 runs on Sunday and Wednesday. The games between those, less than 4 runs each game pretty much.

Pitching does help win games, but you really can't win anything when scoring 2-3 games if that.

Mattingly needs to wake up and shuffle the line up order a little bit. Obviously guys like Dee, JT, Yelich and Ozuna are getting on base consistently but those around them aren't doing it night in and out.

Going for 1-9 with RISP with help lose you a game.

Are you pointing that out because Hech was one of the most unlucky SS in baseball that year?

This guy has the worst luck!

I think we need to get back to one hitting coach. I'm not against Palacalico but Menechivo on his own did fine in 2014, IMO.

True. Too much "coaching". I think Manicotti on its own will suffice. The Paramagiano Ruggiano is just extraneous.

At least his K% is respectable, which does imply that he puts lots of balls into play, which does imply that he "isn't very lucky" if his average is so low. His contact is weak, for sure. But at least he has a home with us!!

Hech is like herpes. We can't get rid of him, when he's not at his worst you barely notice him, but when he's being himself he's literally herpes.

I don't think the hitting coach matters much. What was remarkable in 2014 besides Stanton having a very good season?

i mean my sense is that it's a team philosophy though which could be hitting coach related...swing a lot, make contact, hit it where they aint, no bbs, this is who the team has been for a while...i feel like they model it after the royals

slap a few hits in the gaps guys. make sure you advance the runner above all else. dont hit it in the air, force a play at the base. pressure the defense with sharply hit ground balls.

I think the problem is that the talent just isn't there.

Stanton does need to be fixed though. Not sure if that's a hitting coach issue or not.

it could be a talent thing definitely

Hech sucks, Bour isn't good enough to be an everyday first baseman, Dee Gordon is starting to regress back to his pre-Theraflu years, and Stanton is inching towards becoming Ryan Howard 2.0.

So we could see improvement with some of these guys (I'm not writing off Stanton yet), but that's what we are confronted with right now.

However, I think that down the stretch the pitching will be the bigger problem.

so starting pitching that leads all of MLB in walks, averages the fewest innings of any staff, bottom 5 in strikeouts, and bottom 5 in ERA isn't to blame?  This was brought up during the Rays game last night in terms of the Marlins struggles with their starters.  Maybe they got the info wrong but somehow I'm thinking not.  I have no idea how you can say they've given them a chance to win the games.  Sure, the starter will usually only give up 2-3 runs which doesn't sound bad until you look at the other half of that start and see those 2-3 runs were given up in 4 1/3 innings on 96 pitches leaving half the game yet to be played.

Well I was speaking from recent games. The starters are a definite hole on this team. Guys like TK are trash and always have been trash. Conley is solid and Straily isn't that bad.

I'm just saying the offense didn't help any but no scoring much and leaving a lot of runners on base.

Mattingly is stubborn and probably won't shuffle the lineup until things really get bad.

lol what even happened last night...didn't watch...don make bad moves?

He didn't make any move, pitching coach pulled Ziegler after he blow our lead and Don turned a blind eye to it…
