fauowls44
This Forbes writer hasn't exactly had the best track record on this story, so who knows. In the past, MLB has said they have the money, so I guess we will soon find out who's right.
JTRiddlesMom
Why would the Marlins have to come up with money if Jeter and Sherman are the ones short?
AeroFishOne
This seems to becoming a shit show if it's not already.
Das Texan
It would be fitting if Jeffrey has to declare bankruptcy.

JTRiddlesMom
Oh the Marlins have to pay something in November and if the sale doesn't go through or is delayed they may have trouble making those payments. I get it now. I read it wrong earlier.
taiwanmarlin
If Loria really loved Jeter so much and wanted him to be the next owner of this team so bad,why not just giving him some coupons !?

squall
It would be fitting if Jeffrey has to declare bankruptcy. The marlins would declare bankruptcy, not Loria. MLB would never allow that anyways.
squall
Sorry to bust your bubbles but the Marlin's have assets to borrow money against. Easily. Also, MLB would never allow a team to default on payments. Loria still a dick.
RIP16
As long as Loria is forced to pay for the Jeter statue...

RIP16
Now he's getting one too? Jeter will get one. New York narcissist. I will be disgusted if he gets the County to pay for it though, or pay for anything he decides (eg. removing HR sculpture).

Das Texan
I know it was long ago, but try to remember passed the headlines. Actually, go fresh yourself on what happened. I'm fully aware of what happened. Don't think for a minute MLB will let Loria declare bankruptcy if Jeter/Sherman don't meet the requirements set by the McCourt situation largely (the Wilpons should have been forced to sell but they were buddy/buddy with Selig). They do NOT want another McCourt situation, allowing Jeter/Sherman to buy the team without the necessary cash and failure to maintain the debt structures will not be tolerated. I always thought it was curious how they found 400 million in a week or two (after trying and failing for 6 months), so I guess it makes more sense that they never really did find all the cash they needed to in order to meet the purchase price. hovertical
nothing screams future success like a new group being far short of the funds to buy the damned thing. hooray! I wish they hadn't gotten that new stadium (since attendance didn't really change much anyway) and they could've just been relocated to another city that gives a shit. Das Texan
Exactly. MLB won't let it happen... MLB wont let Sherman/Jeter buy the club without the correct liquidity and debt ratios. So I guess its going to be either, Jeff you declare or you sell to Mas? (I guess or sell for 1.05 billion ish too)
