August 16, 20187 yr I know I defend a lot of things but this was ridiculously stupid. Acuna didn't do anything disrespectful. What he has done this series was only the fault of the Marlins pitchers. And now Urena gets ejected and makes it a bullpen game one pitch into the game. Horrible.
August 16, 20187 yr I agree and understand Urena's intentional move. Baseball is a group sports. Maybe Urena''d like to show some pain and reality of baseball to Acuna who shows homer power. But he should throw HBP to hitter's hip or below.

Urena was trying to be tough for nothing. A dog who barks doesn't always bite.
August 16, 20187 yr I don’t mind throwing at guys (not at the head of course) in the right circumstances. But the Braves, and especially Acuna, have kicked our asses for three games; total domination. It is bush league to throw at him in that situation, on the first pitch no less. And now he may be hurt. This is embarrassing.
August 16, 20187 yr Ureńa is the worst (and I’m ok with pitchers hitting batters in the proper areas and at the proper time). I hate this team so much right now.
August 16, 20187 yr Did Acuńa run the bases like a clown when he hit the lead off HR’s in the prior games? I followed the games on MLB At Bat radio.

He’s pimped some home runs (because he’s hit them a long way) and been caught celebrating outside the dugout from time to time. Stuff “old school” baseball guys don’t like.
August 16, 20187 yr As I said in the game thread, I don't want to see Urena on the roster tomorrow. Option him to AAA as a message to the league that the Marlins do not support this kind of behavior. Assuming he has options and I think he does.

August 16, 20187 yr He’s pimped some home runs (because he’s hit them a long way) and been caught celebrating outside the dugout from time to time. Stuff “old school” baseball guys don’t like. Yep, I think that’s definitely why he got hit.
August 16, 20187 yr Yep, I think that’s definitely why he got hit. He got hit because he led off the last 3 games with a HR (every game of series) and Urena wasn't going to let it happen a 4th time, simple as that.
August 16, 20187 yr Author He got hit because he led off the last 3 games with a HR (every game of series) and Urena wasn't going to let it happen a 4th time, simple as that. Correct but that's not doing "something wrong or disrespectful". Can't hurt a guy for being good especially when it's mostly on your own team for being shit. And no Urena does not have options left. I doubt anything gets done.
August 16, 20187 yr And no Urena does not have options left. I doubt anything gets done. Damn too bad then. He'll get suspended but I wanted a way for the Marlins to show they don't support this.
August 16, 20187 yr @SonOfJack @Michael I’m paraphrasing but during the recap at the beginning of this inning he went over the incident and said something along the lines of having to send a message to Acuna because he had been hitting so many home runs. This comment was made while trying to take a neutral position on the matter until Ureña had a chance to speak to the media. I don’t expect him to rip urena on the broadcast but his comments felt like he was rationalizing what happened and there really is no excuse for what happened in my opinion. I don’t want to sound like the morality police on this but severino has seemed like a plain vanilla kind of guy all year. Knowing this myself I can take his remarks for what they are. But a lot of people who don’t watch the marlins everyday may hear this and say this sounds like a guy apologizing for an embarrassing act by our pitcher

"Neutral" not the best position here, just call it what it is - unnecessary. Although I can't help but wonder what Tommy Hutton would have said about all of this.
