New Logo Coming

Featured Replies

I do think this will be better recieved and sell better than the current stuff and let's be honest the current stuff did sell well when it first came out. It had that hip and trendy "I gotta get that" vibe even with all its detractors. I think this logo will have that to a higher degree.

However, I don't hate this logo. The more I see it in action, the more I like it.

Yea me too. The pink is still jarring to me because I really wanted just light blue, black and silver but there is potential and the uniforms will be the decision makers for me. I'm also getting used to the black on black even though id rather more color.

Anyone remember Huizenga originally wanted the team to be the Flamingos and wear pink? Unlikely but the pink accents could be a subtle reference to that.

I remember that, that's a great point. I remember the Panthers and/or the soccer team released a full infographic describing each aspect of the new logo. Maybe the Marlins will do that.

Both of them did. It's becoming commonplace to do that though sometimes it's a crock of shit I think. Sometimes they give a reason for things that don't need a reason.

Here's my thinking on why they went with black on black...

The black on black is odd but I think they're clearly going for a night time Miami fishing vibe. Like if you were looking out towards the ocean at night and you saw a marlin jump out of the water and the neon lights of the city of Miami quickly glistened off the wet body of the fish. That's what I see.

Also someone on the logos forum made an excellent point that it's not the first time a team did a logo the same color as the background as the Angels cap and the Brewers retro designs are the same color logo and cap and they look good.

I like that fishing idea you had, it makes sense. Jeter may steal it for the presser.

Also the Florida Marlins F is black on black

Please give us a blue alternate, please give us a blue alternate, please give us a blue alternate.

Cap or jersey? I'm pretty confident a blue jersey is coming even if it's just for spring training or BP but I think a blue cap, that actually gets used consistently, is of dire urgency. It would make the look pop and not be so dark.

These seem close. Yesterday they looked different.  Probably should wait till November before jumping to conclusions.

I enlarged the cap pick and I'm go ahead and say it's not pink it's the same orange. Remember our orange is a reddish shade so in low quality images and in bad lighting it can easily appear pinkish. It also looks like the bottom side of the fish is silver. So I'm gonna say they removed yellow but kept the exact same color scheme just rearranging the balance and elevating blue while limiting the orange to an accent. This might work better than just switching to blue and pink.

Here it definitely looks reddish orange to me and you can more clearly see the silver on the bottom of the fish and his tail and under his side fin and in his mouth. 100% sure silver is in there now and that's an improvement.
