Realmuto traded to Phillies

Featured Replies

Wasnt even aware the the Angels and/or Lucroy mean anything to the Realmuto conversation in 2019.

Last year was ummmm pretty fucking bad for Lucroy.  And the Angels have no farm.  Anyone in on Realmuto would only have gone after Lucroy if there was literally no other option. Maybe.

When a few other people brought it up before he did, why would you quote his post to make your comment? It is almost like you have a vendetta against him on an internet forum. Nah that'd be sad and pathetic so it can't be that.

I think it's a simple concept for the Astros, which one would have the most impact to their battle to the WS in the next two seasons ? JT, Whitley or Tucker ? I believe Luhnow knows the answer.

Most likely JT but a GMs job is to help the franchise now and in the future. He has to weigh if JTs impact is enough to put them over the top and risk losing a guy who could potentially help them compete in 5-6 more seasons instead.

Because his post was hte first one I saw after Lucroy signed?

The Astros want the best catcher in the league and they want to give us their 5th best prospect.  They need to eat a bag of dicks.

Marlins want their 1st and 5th best prospect.  The asking price is why Realmuto is still a Marlin.  There isnt one team willing to give up the ransom the Marlins want.

Nobody will end up happy.

How do you think they should handle it?  Let him play out his deal?  Extend him under massive terms?  Lower their asking price and trade now?  Wait a year?

Lower their trade demands from something extortionist to something doable.  If they would lower their asking price, they probably get into a bidding war and approach their asking price.

Extending him to Posey figures is moronic.  Wait a year is not good.

Play out his deal is more a fuck you option and is a viable option too, if you dont care about a long term return and want to send a message.

So its really either lower their trade demands slightly.  or just say fuck you to JT.  Though from listening to Mike Hill that appears to be the route they are taking, probably after getting burned in other deals, so I dont blame him.

But maybe only JT would make them over the top in the next one or two seasons before they beginning to collapse.

It almost feels like they feel badly about last winter and they’re overcompensating in the other direction in terms of trade demands

Yea it's funny how the Marlins are laughed at when they rush a trade but then laughed at when they try and hold out for better.

And then suddenly, "Marlins sign Realmuto to four year $65M deal." Fans: "LOL how stupid they're not going to compete any time soon why would they do that"

And in some cases it is the same people that have said both things.

This definitely happens.  We need a google docs sheet to tracks everyone’s take

Realmuto is worth a top prospect, I don't see them extorting anyone or asking for too much. The alternative is they take less than his value and are rightfully ridiculed again for it.

Nobody is denying he is worth a top prospect.

Its the Marlins wanting 2 top prospects PLUS that is why Realmuto is still a Marlin.

I think the problem is you must have a different definition of "top prospect"  The Marlins aren't asking for Whitley AND Tucker (actual top prospects), that'd be nuts. They asked for one of them and you called it extortion. They asked for Acuna last year from Atlanta, again ONE top prospect.

Reports were that the Marlins asking price was extortion from many other writers not just of the Marlins but other teams and national writers and that they had wanted an elite prospect and then the next best prospect as well.

I dont blame the Braves for saying no to Acuna for Relamuto.  They lose that trade 11 out of 10 days.

Its funny that Realmuto is the line they are drawing in the sand, when these prices are what they should have had for Yelich and Ozuna last winter, trading away Realmuto for the crap they received in return.

Its like the front office read the takes on their trades and were like, oh fuck, this isnt going well.  We better just hold out for the moon AND the sun with our remaining major trade asset.

For the record:

Astros would have done Tucker plus a mid level type prospect in November.

Yankees would have done it for Gary Sanchez straight up (dont believe Cash), or Andjuar and a mid level prospect, or their top prospect or two plus a mid level type.

Dodgers would have done it for Verdugo plus a mid level type in November.

See the pattern, thats NOT the asking price, if it were,  Realmuto is traded long ago.

My take on this hasnt changed son.

You are one of those who felt they rushed into bad deals last year and are also wrong for asking for fair value this year. You just change the definition of what fair value is at will, kinda like how you change the year that you became a Cardinals fan.

*yawn*

I said they should have torn it all down if that was their idiotic plan.

I said my Cardinals stole Ozuna for nothing more then our spare parts.

I said the Brewers stole Yelich for a top prospect they didnt know what to do with (Brinson) and extra pieces.

They did rush into bad deals last year because they were bound and determined to make trades.

Then when they got bad reviews of those deals they suddenly woke up and were like, well fuck, maybe we should just extort other teams to make up for our bad deals.

Fair value for Realmuto is what I said would have been done 2 months ago. Any of those teams would have done that then, and probably still now.  That's not the price.  Which is painfully evident to everyone but a few on here I guess.

Stop paying attention to what any media member covering the Marlins have to say other than Mish. ALL OF THEM ARE TRASH and do no real reporting on any aspect of the team not spoon fed to them by the front office.
