December 21, 20187 yr Kinda bizarre that some teams in the win now mode won't part with some of their farm for a very much needed upgrade. It's not like JT is on the backside of his career either. I'd kill to be a fly on the wall for some of these conversations (hopefully the call is on speakerphone though so i can hear both sides. I'm not giving up my semi-human form for nothin.

Yeah Realmuto is (or at least can be) enough of a difference maker for a contender that I'm sorta surprised someone hasn't given in yet. Similar to Pudge on our 03 team, Realmuto's trade could decide half the 2019 world series matchup. All these teams that went with Wilson Ramos, Brian McCann, and Kurt Suzuki might miss the World Series because they didn't bite on getting JT.

Even a slight overpay for a solid contending team (not an outlier) makes sense. This is not a basic 'get a veteran to help the clubhouse", this is a difference maker. They should be able to sign JT to an extension also. Marlins front office can't buckle on this, they have held firm so far.

Houston is basically as close as you can get. He'd be very happy.
December 21, 20187 yr It's very possible a team like Houston is taking long to commit until they can speak with JT to negotiate a long-term deal with him before they pull the trigger on a trade. Question is whether Marlins are making him available to speak to other teams.
