Realmuto traded to Phillies

Featured Replies

I consider the numbers from both sides to be rumors anyway and I don't think either should be completely believed. Both were likely leaked by the opposing side and fudged a bit. Not sure who reported that one.

I bet it was Posey who reported that one. He's a dick.

It's where this team should allocate the money they saved from those players they traded last year, so there is no reason to not offer the fair contract to the most important player.

5/80 is a fair offer, his request is a lot higher than that so odds are he wouldn't take 5/80 though again they should have offered it so he could decline it.

"And it does not take much digging to get a load of checkmarks on his leadership and smarts. He was, for example, not part of the Marlins’ pre-series/game scouting meetings. He ran those meetings."

GIVE HIM 8/167- WHO SAYS NO?

Why extend him, he doesnt want to be here like Giancarlo, who was given a contract he couldnt refuse, JT is a good player today, And the best carcher in baseball, but he will be a First basemen by the time this team is ready to compete, trade him now while the iron is hot.

I support this front office for what they did from the beginning (yeah, including all the big trades they did last off-season), but this one I just couldn't defend them at all.

Of course you can question the figure to make self feeling better but I believe the gap would be small if it's not the exactly number (I believe Hill or Jeter would to clarify it public if the gap was really big).

So now the question would be what's the reason for this team to make this kind of offers ? I believe the bad relationship between two camps after last year's fire sale would be a big one, but the team needs to do what they should to do to the player they want to keep long term, and that's offering him a fair contract no matter he would like to accept it or not.

@taiwanmarlin I along with others have said they should have offered a fair contract and let him decline it. We have said this repeatedtly.  A fair number being 5/80.

In fact, I'm very upset about this and it's feeling like betrayed by this team, we continue to support them after the fire sale but they seems didn't want to do their best to keep the most important player of this team…I know they got the reason to do so, but it's really make no sense to treat your best player in the rebuilding process like this. I don't know how other fans reacted to this, but it's really reduce my trust in this front office.

It’s interesting that this is your breaking point.

I'm not saying I will not continue be the fan of this team, I'm just very disappointed in this case…

Rays will turn JT into an opening catcher. He'll be moved to first base after the second inning.

While this is an attempt at humor, there would be some of that.  The way the Rays managed their pitching was reflected in how their IF/OF alignments were are shifted during the course of the game.  Zunino and Realmuto could certainly coexist on that team.  The Rays have desireable prospects.  I’d welcome a deal with them

Oh yeah for sure. They'd probably put JT at third at times, too.
