December 14, 20187 yr Apparently he's too busy in the Las Vegas to answer you. Well at least someone was busy there.
December 14, 20187 yr Some people haven't given up on him yet including me. I definitely haven’t given up on Brinson either. He gets all of 2019 to prove his worth. And they better not bat him 8th.
December 14, 20187 yr Excellent piece from Sherman breaking down in pretty simple terms why Realmuto is so good and has so much value and why the Marlins are right to ask for so much for him. This was pretty much written for New Yorkers who are wondering why the Mets are entertaining the Marlins high price tag but it's a solid read for anyone here as well. https://t.co/UKRESUmKbb

December 14, 20187 yr Which one would you prefer to have ? A. Trade JT for the package that not the best. B. Keep him for the next two seasons then lose him for nothing, but this team made it to the playoffs for at least one time in these two seasons.
December 14, 20187 yr I’d rather keep Realmuto than get plundered again ala Yelich. I can easily see him go 30/100/300 once he gets away from Marlins Park. Rosario et al does nothing to excite me. Put up a Miguel Rojas year in 2017. Whippee.

December 14, 20187 yr Damn it, now I really don't want them to get rid of him... Ok, I agree to give him 5/100 now, anybody else ? Except he doesn't wanna be here. How great he is works to our advantage as far as trade value but it doesn't change the fact that he wants out of Miami.

December 14, 20187 yr Do not take a shit package back on JT. It would be an awful mistake. He does NOT have to be traded right now. If the offers are shit, wait until July or even next off-season. That extra year of control is negated if you take shit back anyway.

Put up a Miguel Rojas year in 2017. Whippee. Rosario was 22 last year (1.5 WAR) and better than a 29 year old Rojas (1). Rojas is an excellent bench player, Rosario has major breakout potential and could become something like Didi/Segura real quick. Marlins would be lucky to get him in a package. He'd be the best player in the Marlins organization IMO.
December 14, 20187 yr Ok, I agree to give him 5/100 now, anybody else ? No, too much. 5/$80, maybe $85.
December 14, 20187 yr Crasnick throws the Brewers into the mix...
December 14, 20187 yr Alright, they can send that Yelich kid back. Has several years of control and is affordable.
December 14, 20187 yr Alright, they can send that Yelich kid back. Has several years of control and is affordable. Imagine if we kept Brinson and Yelich together in the outfield that would actually be cool.
December 15, 20187 yr I believe the story development of Realmuto was as below, a. He was open-minded for the extension before we made the first offer. b. We lowballing him in the first two extension contract offer. c. He felt disrespected from this team and decided not to continue to talk. d. His agent said publicly that JT won't sign extension contract with Marlins.

December 15, 20187 yr Realmuto is coming off a career year. This offer was made just before the all star break. He had a great first HALF. So the team probably put together the offer during that period of time. When you consider that it isn’t as insulting as it seems now with the benefit of hindsight that he put together a great full season. It’s certainly low and yes the team could easily up their offer. But I don’t think this is a double barrel middle finger by the marlins like some are making it out to be

I thought we already know his counteroffer, he asked for Buster Posey money aka 8/167
December 15, 20187 yr I thought we already know his counteroffer, he asked for Buster Posey money aka 8/167 That’s the rumor. Was that a Mish report ?
December 15, 20187 yr That’s the rumor. Was that a Mish report ? I consider the numbers from both sides to be rumors anyway and I don't think either should be completely believed. Both were likely leaked by the opposing side and fudged a bit. Not sure who reported that one.
