Why is Brinson still in the big leagues?

Featured Replies

We already understand we lost this trade. No need to keep the guy up and embarrass him. At what point does he get sent down? Does he have to hit below .100 or something?

They should call up: Dean,Monte,Harold. Send down, Lew and Galloway. Dfa Herrera... Grandy to the bench, it's not that difficult....

This offense is the WOAT!!!! Also I think Gallen is just bored in AAA.... He dominated again today, this is getting ridiculous....

I should correct my Halladay point before someone corrects me. He had some success early on and then soon became awful and was demoted.

I hate to use another HOF member as an example but they are easier to remember. Mickey Mantle too.

The bigger question is

Why are they still batting Brinson 8th?

Where would you bat a player that hits below the Mendoza line?

Monte Harrison gonna replace Brinson sooner or later. Before that, Brinson will take a role as a stopgap I think. It's a sunk cost of Economics.

In my opinion, Granderson should be dumped asap. He was a real garbage.

. Brinson is a prime example of piece of shit hitting, but check out our TOP 30 prospects... outside of Monte and Devers, almost every single non-pitcher prospect is hitting below .or just over .200... seriously, wtf?

Will Mesa start hitting more?

Scott, Banfield, Pompey, Nelson, Torres, Jones look like busts

Diaz, Miller, Dunand, and Brigman look kinda meh right now...

do we have bad minor league instructors and talent evaluators?

I don't think Banfield was ever expected to be a good hitter. I hear that his defensive numbers are fantastic. He has caught would be base stealers at a 60% rate.

Brinson should've been sent down last year. And he should've been sent down the beginning of this year. I don't care what his spring numbers are - they were great last year too. Send him down, let him (hopefully) rake for a month and then maybe bring him back up.

It hurts every time I hear Yelich brought up anywhere, especially with the 18 million MLB notifications they send nowadays.

In a year where our Win/Loss record means nothing, I would bat my struggling prospect anywhere except just before the pitcher.   The 8th spot offers him zero protection with the pitcher coming up next.

I really doubt they call up Harrison any time soon.  Even though he is hitting better than before, he still strikes out way too much.

The most troublesome thing about our many struggling hitters in the minor leagues is that it is the minor leagues they are struggling in.  It is one thing to struggle at the big league level like Brinson is.  Throughout the history of baseball there have not been very many successful major league hitters who could not hit in the minors.  Guys who are successful at the major league level were pretty much stars at every stage below that.  So, expecting one of these guys who are hitting .180 over an extended period of time at A or AA to be a major league player is asking a little much.
