Tbh this makes little sense. Maybe I'm over analyzing it but... how is this person a bombshell candidate IF a favorite doesn't emerge from the current group? That would basically mean this bombshell candidate is only like the 4th or 5th best candidate because they're making it sound like they would be an option after whoever is already known.

Not much of a bombshell if you're not #1 choice already.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there was never really a bombshell mystery candidate.

Mets are down to Eduardo Perez and Carlos Beltran. I would think Perez is the best bet out of those two but if I'm a Mets fan I'm not thrilled about either to lead a team that is supposedly in win-now mode. Both of these guys seem like the type to lead a young rebuilding team as both the team and the manager gain experience.

I sincerely hope that Beltran does not work out for the Mets. However, only so much as they don't make the playoffs and not in a way that they make necessary adjustments to improve their club.
